  • I received a letter last week about this from my supplier asking what benefits we are in receipt of. By the looks of it we will qualify.
september wins - toshiba laptop, timotei shampoo & conditioner, mccains games, pimms picnic blanket.
october wins - grants tumblers, £20 petrol voucher, sega console, iphone
novembers wins - £50 on walkers rainy day, £50 itunes voucher
    march wins - dog treats
  • edf rang back again and said if i was on income support, income based jobseekers we would qualify and they would high light it and when i said we wernt they said we wouldnt qualify but i dont understand that when it states low income and dla etc
  • Just been looking through E.on's terms and conditions.

It looks like although initially we would fit into the broader group, my 2 children in receipt of DLA, as neither are over 60, and I make a third person, we fail to meet the criteria :-(

I fail to meet criteria too. My income related benefit is working tax credit disabled element as I'm still managing to work part time. And WTC is not counted as an income related benefit. Strange how you only get it when on a low income!
  • It's a discounted price for those each energy provider feels is ' fuel poor ' [ the % of disposable £ available for energy ] so its for those classed as energy poor. The qualifying criteria for both the core group and the other [ see #5 for the groups ] group. The second other “Broader Group” will still be left to energy suppliers to define.

Its a wholly subsidised discount paid by the providers [ except British Gas ] for which they have provisioned £x each year, we are at Oct 2011 and in many cases the money allotted for this year has run out and only those in extreme poverty are being allowed into the scheme.

I can only assume that those who are refused are (1) not eligible (2) borderline or (3) the company concerned is restricting entry to the very needy .. .. if at all.

Those refused .. .. try again every eight weeks till we get to April next year when they reallocate a new [STRIKE]and hopefully bigger[/STRIKE] budget for this purpose. :D

    Thanks for the above posts.
I have not heard about this scheme so I went to my providers web site and filled out the necessary form..I will be contacted by them within 10 days of applying. I will keep you all informed of the outcome,I am over 60yr and get pension credit.
Why don't the fuel companies write to their customers to inform them of this scheme, that way all who are entitled would benefit.

  • I was told, this morning, by npower that because we're on the Spreading Warmth Tariff we're not eligible for the £120 discount. The DWP, this afternoon, said that there is no reason why the discount should not be paid. I checked the direct.gov site but could not find an answer. It seems that the energy company can make its own rules on the subject. We are eligible by the relevant criterion of being in receipt of Pension Credit guarantee credit.

Have had an e mail from Atlantic (scottish power), to say that subject to proof, I am entitled to the £120 per yr for my Electricity account. They will write to me to give them proof of my pension credit and will receive payment in March 2012 and each year thereafter.

    Thanks Rich for the link.
