What about a more classy piece of jewellery? A nice necklace or bracelet?

Or a good bottle of champagne (I'd recommend Veuve Clicquot)? May with a couple of crystal flutes to drink it out of?

How about something like a newspaper from the day of her birth - will age with her (unlike an object with 21 on it!), and is always nice to keep. They usually come gift boxed too... You should be able to get a genuine archive paper too - not a cheap copy...

Ok not quite moneysaving but my DD will be 21 on 7 Nov and is in China studying Mandarin.

DH and I will be over there to help her celebrate and although we are getting her a camera (not too complicated or expensive) we would like to get something for her as a keepsake. We got her some jewellery for her 18th so I'm looking for different ideas for her 21st.

Can anyone help me out with some inspired suggestions because I'm totally lost?:)

A trip to the Great Wall would be memorable for you all, if it is close enough to be visited from where you are- and that will not get lost or forgotten, unlike a piece of jewellery.
