Instead I am looking at another 16 years when I will be closer to 70 rather than 60. As I explained to one disgruntled parent ( who thought we where striking for more pay !) would they want their children to be taught by 70 year olds because that is what it is moving towards.
Inevitably it will cost the govt more if they make us work that long as they'll have so many elderly teachers going off long term sick, or with stress, depression or simply being worn out that they will end up with a mahoosive early retirement through sickness bill (or even worse having to pay out for death in service). Wonder if I should drop Mr Cameron a line hinting he might want to consider this problem before forcing me to work till I actually die!
Will we still get a free bus pass to get us to work if we're that old cos at 68 years old I for one will be working just my minimum hours and zooming home on the bus with my zimmer frame to go and see the grandkids! :rotfl:Mortgage £128,626 going down slowly0 -

What a great positive end to the week, lovely posts from Thrifty and Fantasia, MG has an ace and frugal treat for DS1 and has [STRIKE]wrestled[/STRIKE] charmed fees from the bank, Greenbee is back home, and Horace and Crickett are being heroically stoic and positive. It will pay off, better things are on their way! And for FW too.
And thanks to the paperwork sorting we all did as part of the challenges, today I was able to put my hand straight on my car's last MOT cert and now have this year's test booked. All in 2 minutes. So straightforward! Once the eaves are finished, the paperwork will get another winnowing and shredding, to make life even more straightforward.
Have a good weekend everyone. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

I feel an apology might be in order.... my strikers doing Christmas shopping comment was a little tongue-in-cheek and I'm sorry if it offended x0

Wasn't offended at all although I won't be Christmas shopping as the shops will be filled with hoards of kids, harrassed mums and other teachers!
Won't be picketing since school is completely closed so no-one will be going near the place. Also struggling to think of a snappy slogan for don't make me work longer, pay in a lot more, lose out cos its changing from rpi to cpi (i think), change it to a career average salary, and penalise me for working hard to go up in my career by nicking my child benefit as well grrrr - as well as blaming me for all the ills of society, having low expectations of my class and not being able to make the poorest and most needy children do better academically than those with every support from home (I still haven't worked that one out) Is going to be a big placard:pMortgage £128,626 going down slowly0 -
