    well done MG!
  • Just checked my current account - you know running the envelope technique for food n spends is really paying off. The floating balance is gradually moving upwards which is brilliant - granted only be a few quid every week but its going in the right direction.

Relieved that the bank has decided not to play silly beggars as it means that stay on my same mortgage deal (one of the very best deals I could get and one you can't get now).

Time to do some serious damage to the mortgage debt now - Yipee!!!

Personally am striking on Wednesday as I think this is the thin end of the wedge and they are already trying to scrap final salary scheme this time in favour of career average. Am having a carp day today - boss texted me at 6.10am this morning:mad::mad::mad: to ask for my planning so I have duly left it at home and told him what I think of being woken up at that time - stupid man. Roll on my weekend away.

  • Well done MG! Great deal from the bank.

I have been wondering and musing about how to fall back in love with my job. Since the upset with people complaining about me and with my boss and my bosses boss examining everything I do for any little fault, I have not been enjoying coming to work in the mornings. Well, a little bit of light has entered my world. Every Friday lunchtime a small group of like minded ladies get together and do some knitting/crocheting for an hour and have a gossip! :) I have just done 4 rows of my knitting which I had not anticpated getting anywhere near this weekend, so I am chuffed beyond measure! And it is a good reason to haul my sorry backside into work on Fridays. I have choir rehearsal on Mondays... so now for good reasons to come into work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and I will have it sussed! :D

Going to have a massive cleaning day tomorrow. I have a list, and I am determined to get through it all. It includes a big furniture rearrange so we can fit in the Christmas Tree when the time comes! :D Sunday is a bit busy because Hubby has to work, and i have an extra choir rehearsal, but i am looking forward to it a great deal!! :) Have a fantastic weekend one and all... and BAH to stupid bosses! :D

Lots to read and catch up on - well done MG on the bank fees and the article. Good luck to Greenbee.

Please don't get me started on strikes - I spent 18 months as a branch secretary of Unison, they wanted us to go on strike for the smallest thing when instead working to rule was far more effective plus the staff got paid. I got to thinking that the full time officers got paid a bonus if they successfully called staff out on strike..people forget that the Union employees still get full pay whilst the other poor sops who are striking get no pay. Would I join a union now? The answer is no because when I needed help they weren't around!

I sat an exam this morning - this is the first exam I have sat since 1985. I have now got my Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and got 86.7% - I got a couple of questions wrong:(

At the end of the course yesterday I was given a £10 Love to Shop Voucher and it seems that every time a course is finished we get a voucher and that if we get a job as a result of the courses then we get £50 worth of vouchers:cool: I am booked on next week for a 2 week Team Leading course followed by an exam and on Thursday I shall be attending a morning session for interview skills too.

Last night when I was watching the goggle box, I feel sure I saw a trailer for a programme that will be on tonight about living the frugal life and how people in the UK are saving money by using vouchers etc. I might watch it (think it is on channel 4 but couldn't swear to it).

Lunch today is home made soup from freezer (this is my fridge forage soup). I will defrost some slices of Hovis granary which was reduced in the supermarket a month or so ago:D Dagnabbit, I forgot to nip into Sainsbugs to pick up a tub of Butterlicious (my cheaper alternative to Clover).

MG - wrap up warm indeed - snow is heading for Scotland according to the forecast I saw this morning, snow on hills at 300m but non-settling flurries further down. Windy for everyone tomorrow.

Gulp!!!! Mr F has done his magic and found me DS1 Xmas present at a bargain price - so I prised my card from my wallet and did the deed - (Hot Flush)

Mind you Gran and Grandad are going halves with me - so its only £50 and he will have his very own laptop to do his homework on (and leave me to do mine on mine IYSWIM)

So just a stocking to fill for him now.

Feel a little light-headed at the extravagance - but DS1 has been my rock for the last couple of years and he never asks for anything. Can't wait to see his face mind.

Just wanted to say thanks really, the Matrixettes have helped me pick myself up and dust myself down and my confidence in myself is slowly returning. As a result of my recent course - I knew that food hygiene certificate would come in handy for something, I have now been able to apply for a job with the Hilton hotel group as Deputy Conference & Events Manager, something that I have been toying with but never had the confidence to actually submit my CV. A shiny new CV has been submitted:cool: I have also applied for a post with Crowne Plaza as a Meeting Host (someone who looks after the meeting rooms and takes bookings from clients).

Need some advice though, I have seen a fabby job going at the Hippo in Birmingham however, it says that it is essential that I have used Artifex event software, now I have all the other essentials but not this one. Do I still apply? I am figuring that they can train me on its usage if I am successful.

Washing up done (just have a few other bits to do but I only have a small draining board), need to clean bath and other bathroom windowsill. Need to clear junk in office and move furniture about - must fill crates and stack them in the spare room too (I have too much stuff)

MG -DS1 is going to be amazed :-).

Horace - can you reach out to someone in your network and see whether you can get a few hours access to the software? That way, you can truthfully say you have experience of it to get your CV through the sift, and then explain that it is limited experience (no need to explain...) but that you've used so many software packages you know you can pick it up quickly with coaching from an experienced user and access to online help/manuals/training material... They'll have to train you how they want it used anyway...

I'm back... So much easier this time, as the anaethestist listened to me and didn't give me painkillers I don't get on with. Does anyone thing it's a coincidence that it was a man last time and a woman this time :p

Nope because I have found that men tend to listen to me - my consultant doesnt give me painkillers unless I ask for them after surgery, he is amazed at my high pain threshold which is ok until he starts poking about with the eye he has just operated on and then I faint:( In the past I have found female doctors tend to prescribe pain relief when none is needed.

I might ask as I have a few hotel contacts so I will ask if they use Artifex (never thought to use my contacts..doh).
