  • Like MG I'm pooped... my friend got the leaves swept up in an hour - two industrial size sackfuls left with him! I got the windows cleaned and other things done. The nice young family came and viewed, this is just one of many properties on their list. Que sera sera!

So, MG, I reckon you and I have well and truly earned our day of rest tomorrow! :rotfl::rotfl:

It'll be a sofa evening, keeping the cat as chilled as possible as the bangs go off. Anyone going out to watch fireworks, have a great time and be careful out there.
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

  • MG - I need a new front door for our house (built 1850). I have little money, so a new one is out of the question. I have requested on Freecycle and at the local tips, so I am hoping the universe will send me one from there. The thing is I have several very old wooden doors lying about in the garages, but I have no idea if they are internal or external. What do you think - should I just use one of them and see how it goes for the winter? I did have a look at the DIY threads, but I couldn't find any advice that was relevent. I just want it sorted, and for as little cost as possible, and I have no problem with doing some work.
BTW - I am asking the question but I kinda know what the answer is going to be!!

I'm shattered, and cold, so have lit the fire to warm the house up. I now have to go and out my clean laundry away to make so ace to do my packing. I'll do the suits, and the put out the rest of the stuff and work out how to fit it in.

I've decided that all the curtain poles I'm putting up are going to be sanded and painted in a lime wash effect the same colour as the walls. This will make the rather orangey pine ones that were here when I moved in will look much better, and I've got cheap natural wood ones for the other windows and will do the same with them.

Oh well... Better get something done...

I don't know hon - all I know is that wooden external doors are thick and heavy - well at least compared to internal ones.

Mine came from asking at local Builders Centre for an intro to someone doing period refurbs - couple of weeks later I got a door.

BTW I am not a DIY expert - I've just been watching Builders videos on You-Tube and making it up as I go along.

I have now built the frame for boxing in the boiler - Yayyy!!!.

Now I need to measure the full height for the walls - gulp!!!

I'm packing too GB, my case for next week and also my flat as Im moving next Sat! I'm with you on the lots of clothes thing hon. If you need to look the part then go for it. I too love a jersey dress for downtime, easy to pack and just need a wee touch with the iron when I get there. Also you can wear them with boots for day or heels for pubbing at night (not for uber formal stuff of course).

Horace, what is this fleecy top of which you speak? :rotfl:

Done lots today and out dancing with the gays tonight! :j

MG, my popcorn always ends up down there at the pictures!

Have a good evening all. Im away to iron my dancing clothes X

I think I will add to that by buying some food grade essential oils and flavouring the lip balms. A set of tangerine, lemon and lime lip balms in a little bag would make a nice stocking filler don't you think?

Erm, lemon oil is photo toxic. I personally wouldn't put it in a a lip balm that would be exposed to sunlight on a person's lips. And lime can be as well, depending on how it was harvested. And I think tangerine has *sometimes* been reported to be photo toxic as well.

Suit is packed, with tops. Tights and shoes to go with it are selected but annoyingly I can't find all my shoe bags.

I've got a grey & pink jersey fake wrap dress (jackpot) with a very fine knitted grey waterfall wrap, a black and white Hobbs dress with a little black cardigan, and probably a brown fenn wright manson wrap dress with a brown cardigan (although last time I wore it my cleavage was a bit much... The latter can be worn with brown boots (or brown fit flops...) but the grey dress only has wedge sandals to go with it and I'm not sure whether it will be warm enough for bare legs (they're defuzzed...). And I need to think about what shoes will work with the black and white dress... Not the black work ones as they're WAY too high to walk in :p but the red might work...

As you're here Souk, advice would be appreciated as to what shoes I should wear with a pair of black skinny jeans and a black and white tunic. I've never really found anything that works well :(

Must locate the trainers that are comfortable for walking, if I can remember which ones they are.

And I MUST lose weight so I can fit back into my nice jeans :(

Righto !!! So I need to build my next wall with 400 mm centres .............

    ...................... whatever that means:cool:

But I have lost the light - and the will to live. So dinner and "Merlin" it is:D Then in the morning I can do the dividing wall and the door set. At least that is the plan.

This DIY is hard work - but saves on putting the central heating on :rotfl:

James Wong uses lemon balm leaves in his lip salve rather than a lemon oil.

Feel like I've been on a roller coaster of emotions today.
Do you remember my friend who I asked for vibes for her IVF treatment? Well she had a little girl this morning :T:T:T

This elation has since given way to stress with DS who's being funny about my parents. He keeps saying he doesn't like my dad (which I've found really hurtful and I know it upsets my dad as he idolises DS) and now he's saying similar about my mum. I just don't know what's the matter with him. He can't articulate his feelings very well and it's just turned into a giant ball of stress for all concerned. My parents haven't done anything, DS is going through what appears to be a bit of an anti social phase, he seems really stressy and I just don't know how to deal with this. Damn you SALT for being totally useless and keeping us waiting for a year  at least if he could express himself properly we might stand a chance of getting to the bottom of things.

And to top it all off killer cat is outside in what sounds like the blitz. I've tried calling for her during the quieter periods to no avail. I hope she comes home :(
