From sofas and soups to sawdust and screws.... you're a marvel MG :T:T

That sounds like a cracking title for a thread :rotfl::rotfl:

Down to grab a cuppa and find a scarf to stop the sawdust flying down my t-shirt (I wear V necks so you can imagine where the dust is ending up) :D

And off I go again ;)

MG - thanks for the scone recipe, I opted for a cheese sandwich with branston pickle for tea followed by the last of my tin of sliced peaches in light syrup (an Aldi special) with two large dollops of ice cream (another Aldi special). I think I will buy another tin of peaches the next time I go to Aldi because that tin (standard size) lasted me for 3 good sized puds.

I wasnt in the accident on the M5 although I did hear about it, more was going on near me with a chap being killed on a road not far from me and another unfortunate who decided to jump in front of a train. It really was quite an horrific night:o

I was thoroughly lazy this morning and did not get out of bed until 10.15 and then I had to wait for the water to heat up before I could wash my hair so didnt get dressed until nearer 11.30:eek: I have broken some chores down into 15 min slots - I have cleared the top of my tatty chest of drawers (found dumped by the sheds so it was free), I plan to shift these to the front spare room and take my lovely 1920's mahogany drawers to my bedroom (picked up for £20 inc free delivery from charity shop). I have also cleared the skanky books off the top of the 1920's drawers and have washed the dressing table set (it is currently drying) and I have polished it. Mind you, why I am doing stuff in this order I have no idea because I have 12 months' (yes I have been that lazy) of washing to put away before I can clear a path to remove one set of drawers to replace with another.

I did find some stuff I had forgotten I had including two free sample mascaras - one Lancome and the other Chanel together with a full size free Lancome eyeshadow pallete (I may give this to mum).Goodness gracious me, I have accummulated some junk over the years:eek:

I went to the corner shop earlier to get some milk - I had to go and post my evidence to the council re my JSA, and in the corner shop I got milk and spotted their whoopsie shelf so I fulfilled my need for biscuits and chocolate from this shelf - Fox's Crinkle Creams for 99p and a bag of treat size chocolate buttons for £1.09 (treat size means that I can have little indulgences every now and again without wanting to scoff the whole bag), I also picked up a copy of the local paper (one that my mum has delivered for free but which I have to pay for). Even more indulgent, I stopped off at the local hot sandwich shop and treated myself to a bacon and brown sauce sandwich (miffed though because they used cheap plastic bread and not their normal crusty bakery bread).

I will get petrol on Monday because I have to go to the village and pay in my HB cheque - I can then visit various other whoopsie shelves and maybe dive into the butchers. I also need to get a cabbage from the greengrocer because I plan to make a cabbage pie in Mosky (adapting the recipe as I go after finding it in the Mosky cookbook).

I am slowly getting the house back to normal, but will have my work cut out to finish by the time I leave tomorrow. I really really need to start getting on with my packing as I have no idea what I'm going to take with me... Maybe I should try making a list (comments or suggestions welcome... I'm in Barcelona for 4 days of conference with 2.5 days of free time. I have no clue what the weather is like so need to look...):

    Suit jacket
    Suit dresses x 2
    Suit trousers x 1
    Suit skirt x 1
Tops for suits x 4 (need to allow for dropping food or make up on them)
    Black tights x lots
    Coloured tights x lots
    Red shoes
    Black shoes
Flat shoes for resting feet/walking to and from meetings/hotel (? Maybe trainers)
Evening outfits for 4 receptions/dinners plus shoes (include wraps)
    Coat or mac?
    Swimming stuff
Walking gear (trousers, t-shirts, fleece, socks, boots (or will trainers do?) waterproof)
Jeans, boots, tops, socks for days off
Something to wear on the plane
    Underwear
    Make up
    Pills
    Toiletries
    Laptop, phones, chargers, pens

I plan to take hold luggage, plus decent sized hand luggage and a backpack as my laptop bag which my handbag can also go in.

You are going for 4 nights not 4 weeks!

I suggest Jeans, t shirt, fleecy top and possibly a light mac and trainers for the plane.

    Clothes wise I would take:

    Suit dress x 1
    Suit Jacket x 1
    Suit Trousers x 1
    Suit Skirt x 1
    Underwear (which includes tights)
The clothes you are wearing on the plane
1 pair black shoes, 1 pair flat shoes & trainers
    Tops
    Swimsuit
Remember you can wear an item more than once, take some laundry paper so that you can wash your smalls (you can get laundry paper from Lakeland - handy little flakes of soap for washing your undies).

I don't think that it will be overly hot in Barcelona - probably about 18 or 19 during the day and definitely colder at night.

Are the dinners at night black tie dinners? If so you would then need an evening dress and a wrap.

Using your tops you can dress up or dress down your work clothes so it looks as though you have more outfits than you have actually taken. Have space in your suitcase for clothes that you might buy in Barcelona eg. shoes or clothes from Zara or Al Campo (if they have an Al Campo), or C&A

Very interesting morning, I went to a meeting of the local beekeepers group where they showed us how to make lip balm, face cream, foot lotion and furniture polish. I came away with all the ingredients I need to have a go myself foe £9.50. I think I will add to that by buying some food grade essential oils and flavouring the lip balms. A set of tangerine, lemon and lime lip balms in a little bag would make a nice stocking filler don't you think?
Also I really like L'Occitaine's Verbena stuff so I may buy some Lemon Verbena essential oil and see what I can do with that.
    Brain is whirring with ideas.

Officially pooped - although I have figured out how to put up stud walls all on my own. Ok the first one is a teeny tiny half size, but the principle is sound.

Had a fabby visitor today - this was great cos I was really hacked off this morning after clearing the room. Just about to start cutting the timber when they arrived (bearing doughnuts - YUM!!!!). So after a right old gossip, a cuppa, a wander around the charity shops I picked up the courage to start in a much better humour .............. and my plotting works.

It might not be the quickest way - or the way a carpenter would do it, but it works and it is up - Yayyy!!!!

Thanks Horace, but trust me, I do always need lots of work stuff... By the time I've been in my suit and on the go from 7-7 very little is likely to be fit to wear again. My suit is very versatile and packs beautifully (although i do try to use tissue paper to help). And there is always the risk of spills. I don't do shirts, just t-shirts :)

There will be no time to do laundry as we are then have evening activities from around 8pm until midnight. Shoes I need two pairs for work as I'm on my feet all the time so need to change the height of my heels to avoid getting uncomfortable. Dinners are business dress for men and smart for women, so not black tie. I have wrap dresses that roll up small that I wear for those.

I will go with trainers instead of walking boots, as it will be city walking not countryside, so that means I can wear boots on the plane.... It's all starting to get clearer, but complicated by the fact that my bust has grown thanks to recent treatment so some stuff doesn't fit too well!

I'm trying to decide whether to take my shake powder with me (I've been taking it for just over a week, and the recommendation is at least a month) or whether it might be a problem at customs. I have found some estrobalance tablets (not from the same manufacturer) and also some wild yam which are supposed to have the same kind of effect, but would prefer to stick with the original supplement if possible... But don't want to risk it being impounded (it's expensive for one thing!).

Had a lovely time this afternoon as Marru and her daughter (who is delightful) dropped in on their way past. I'm nearly finished on the cleaning/tidying that has to be done before I go (lots of stuff back in the shed means stuff can go back in the utility room and the hall and living room are already pretty much back to normal). Just the landing, kitchen, bins and recycling to go. Oh... And the packing :p

    Mustn't forget jewellery...

DH and I have been somewhat shaken by the accident as it is quite local to us. I had to drive the M5 but north this morning and I was a lot more wary of the drive than I would normally be! TMIF - do you live in the southwest then?

I have to get packing as well. Today was a very hurried day and I still don't know where time goes (time is just the speed with which processes unfold, mind so...).

Most of the day I spent thinking about how to re-structure my blog; basically my categories are all wrong (mean very little), I don't like the lay out and have to re-write bits of it. Partly because inevitably some of the posts are not very good (or don't have to be kept) and partly because as my ideas evolve the overall part become tired.

Tommorow I am off to the Italian lakes; so flying to Milan and a taxi will be waiting for me there to take me ... somewhere. If it were not a work meeting on a fairly mundain project I would have been really pleased. The new me is still going to find sometime to walk about and explore.
