    Nearly there MG! :T :T :T

I've been beavering away myself in the garden this afternoon, putting up a fence, removing a load of strawberries, cutting things, and generally messing about. Also made a couple of cakes, and tidied the kitchen :D About to do 15 minutes in the pit of a bedroom now.

Anyway in amongst all that, I've been nipping here and there reading things, and I happened on this: (it's the 6th November post called 'blinders on: time to make it happen' (can't link directly to it for some reason)).

I know we don't all want to go out and buy farms! But it's a good bit of inspiration for surrounding ourselves with the life we want and going out and making it happen.

Hope you're all having a jolly Sunday!

Oh, I've read some of her blog before, very inspiring! Loved this bit - "I am spending the day at home, both taking care of it and being taken care of by it.". What a lovely thought & just what MG is doing :T

Am off to take care of my home by sorting out the washing .

Thanks for that, it looks just my kind of thing. I may well order her books off Amazon especially if I persuade one of the DDs that she might like to buy me it for Christmas.

Also the message of not just waiting to win the lottery/unknown rich uncle to die is very true. Start preparing now even if you've no idea how you are going to get there.

Thanks Cheery, I also really enjoyed reading that. I have been in need of a reminder that you bring your own future into action a little bit at a time.

I like the idea of my home taking care of me - and me taking care of it. That we can be partnership for a lovely future.

I know that this grunt work shall pass and I shall have a cosy family home for Christmas and two rooms earning us money as we sleep in the New year.

In the meantime - washing up after dinner and a swipe of the floor before tucking boys into beds.

One of my "Old Dears" was quoted £480 plus VAT on Friday to have her central Heating drained, flushed and inhibitor added :eek:

Its a 2 bedroom bungalow !!!!!!!!! Her radiators don't get warm any more.

So this afternoon she has been parked on my sofa - feed liberal amounts of tea and ginger biscuits, then cottage pie and cabbage for dinner.

System has been drained down (40 minutes) filled with descaler (2 hours) flushed through (1 hour) filled and repressurised (1 hour) ............ I will pop around tomorrow to put inhibitor in the system and bleed the radiators again.

Sounds complicated - but really its just a souped up version of descaling your kettle.:D

ALL of her radiators are now HOT!!!! although there are still a few gurgles of air in the system that I will release in the morning.

How can anyone think of charging a pensioner that?? Criminal!!! Thankfully its one of those jobs that I know how to do - but even so there are plenty of videos on Youtube.

Total cost - £40 for the chemicals :j

And even better I know she will be warm this winter.
