Well done MG - have yet to sit down and work our finances out although was frugal this afternoon cos nipped to Aldi and when I got there realised I'd left my purse at home - very MSE. Had a mooch round and came home. Can I be cheeky and ask what your £800 includes as I haven't got a spreadsheet or anything started yet?
Mobile and internet is taken care of from business account.
So:

Dual Fuel Gas and Electric
Council Tax
Insurance Home and Car and Me
Car Fund - Petrol and Mot / servicing
Spendies - For kids and I (Hair cuts and clothes)
Food
Freedom Fund ISA -
Credit Union - Emergency Fund
I like to keep it simple

Eek our Personal Survival Budget is going to have to be a bit bigger than that since mortgage, gas/leccy, and council tax already reach nearly £1000! Had a mind to only include stuff that wasn't a direct debit e.g. food, petrol, spends, childcare in which case it would be a getting smaller number the more frugal I get. Thanks MGMortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000
Savings for big things £90170 -
I was thinking that too Dora - my DD's are £1200, then food and petrol on top of that. Eeek!0

Mobile and internet is taken care of from business account. £8.81 for moby and £23 for internet and phone
So:
Mortgage and overpayments £400 per month (£230 interest and £170 payment against capital
Dual Fuel Gas and Electric £80 per month
Council Tax £18 per month as on low income
Insurance Home and Car and Me £32 per month
Car Fund - Petrol and Mot / servicing £80
Spendies - For kids and I (Hair cuts and clothes) £40
Food £90 per month
Freedom Fund ISA - £40 per month
Credit Union - Emergency Fund £20 per month
I drink very rarely, don't smoke, don't have latest phone and with young kids have little social life. So this is the basic, basic budget. Everything else has to be earned on top.

MG, This IS basic budget but you have amazing friends and support here and treats will come while you pay off the mortgage! Remember that 'A woman should be two things, classy and fabulous' as Chanel said! Classily and fabulously you WILL do this!'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Hugs for Sunflower - remember you have lots of irons in the fire and lots of opportunities. We're here to support you whatever you decide to do next.
MG - its a very basic budget, but I think you might be better off on an energy tariff that bills you for what you have used each month based on meter readings you submit. The average use DD maybe easier to budget for but is a pretty unreliable tool. I now pay for what I use each month, which means I pay very little is summer and quite a bit more in winter, but it gives me control. This month was £30...0 -
SunFlower, sorry to hear about your job. As has been said something better is very likely on its way to you.
Dorastar, you mentioned you have no spreadsheet. You could try this one:

Just click on the link that is in the post and a spreadsheet can be downloaded.

I have hon, this is looking at usage last year and calculating using this years tariff - but just for Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb. I want the option to move at any time so want to keep on top of payments IYSWIM.
This is the bare bones budget for the MFi3 challenge - everything else will need to be make do and mended, traded, bartered, saved for. earned in addition to.
You will notice no TV Licence (not due till July) because the TV is a luxury not a "basic", same with car tax (nice to have but not a basic) - so to keep these we will need to "Earn or save" from our budget in creative ways.
Same with presents and holidays - neither are "basics" so will have to be approached "creatively".
After "emergency fund" is built I can divert money into our basic budget and savings can always be rolled over.
Getting excited about the project now -especially as I have found that on £800 pcm I can pay the mortgage account £170 which is not to shabby.
