Hi Sunflower sorry to hear about your job situation - nasty that it came out of the blue. You are sounding very positive so hope you find something else that suits very soon [and they will be lucky to get you!]

Sunflower sorry about the job shock - love the growing statement though, hope something turns up soon for you.

Am a bit bleurgh today and a bit down too - bleurgh cos stupidly started to watch episode 4 of spooks last night and then couldn't resist watching episodes 5 and then 6 so was a late night/early morning and I am no owl, and sad cos a lady from work rang to say she has been signed off work till at least January as she has breast cancer. She is only a bit younger than me but the docs are really worried, as is she, and I have to phone loads of people to tell them as she doesn't feel she can :(. Positive healing vibes for her and for me telling people gently.
Then I'm going to scrub the house clean to make me feel better.

Extend your googling to Gram flour and besan Groatie - you will get lots of indian foods to use your flour up. It very high protein you know and used loads in veggie cooking. I use it for a batter for coating fish. Very versatile and if you get as much use out of it as I did my 25kg of chapatti flour you will be quids in.

And now the sun has come out - dare I risk putting the washing out on the line????

Sunflower - that sucks..sending you some hugs though ((hugs)). I know that you and I will find alternative employment.

It is sure is tough out there - I received notification that my working tax credits have now ceased but I still haven't had a decision made about my JSA:mad: I cannot live on freshair - I have bills to pay - I may just be taking up mum's offer of bed and board at this rate.

Best dash though - I have beef stew to make for dinner in Pot.

((((dorastar))))))) so sorry to hear about your friend :( How sad. And how good that you can make those phone calls for her - must be difficult for you but you're saving her from having to hear the same shock and words of sympathy over and over again when it's probably the last thing she feels like. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery xx

((((((sunflower))))))) what a shock for you :( BUt absolutely the right attitude xxx

MG: well done on the Debt Freeness. :T

I was let go from work yesterday. It was totally out of the blue.

Back I go to filling out applications I go. I took a brief look last night, but there's very little out there.

I am down but I am not out. I am a SunFlower and when my back is against the wall, I grow.

Sorry to hear that, Sunflower. You will get something else, though. Deep breath, action plan and then get to it. Lots of support on here so let us know how we can help.

Just spent an hour on the spreadsheet sorting out my Personal Survival Budget (The basics). Provided the utility bills don't get too scarey this winter we should be AOK.

Mind you I have very few "expenditure" lines on my spreadsheet now - which is just as well as I have very little on the income side.:rotfl:

I am down £40 p/wk on back to work benefit and up £40 p/wk now the debt has gone so the rest just needed tidying up.

So the three of us can survive quite nicely on £800 per month - so extra's can be allocated straight to building back up reserves and mortgage overpayments. Hopefully the next three years will bring plenty of these. (where is the crossed fingers icon??)

"Team MG" is ready for the challenge.

Well done MG - have yet to sit down and work our finances out although was frugal this afternoon cos nipped to Aldi and when I got there realised I'd left my purse at home - very MSE. Had a mooch round and came home. Can I be cheeky and ask what your £800 includes as I haven't got a spreadsheet or anything started yet?

Have made all the phone calls needed this afternoon and everyone was sad but grateful to have been told iyswim.

Homemade pizza and garlic doughballs for tea - not bad but need less sloppy tomato base and need more garlic in doughballs but icklies are happy and sticky toffee pud and custard next.

  • Well, back from a wonderful week in the Dales.

Even mamaged one NSD as the weather a bit grim so we snuggled in with books, the rented DVDs we had taken with us, the pasta bake I had taken with us and a bottle of wine and lots of coffee.

Found a material shop and bought several £1.00 remnants which will become roman blinds in the next week or so, and found some lovely books that willl be great Christmas pressies for the nephews. Was tempted only once to eat out, and that was a cheap lunch deal Yeah :j and although we did spend on local produce at the local markets it was way cheaper than going to restaraunts, it was delicious and of course not tempted to drink wine at infllated prices in the process too.

Have speed read the thread so apologies if I miss anyone

Sorry to hear about the job Sunflower but loving your attitude.

    Love the finished sofas MG

    Belated Happy Birthday Mr F.

Now to get the washing machine earning it's keep.....
