Bear in mind that he is 3 years and (counts on fingers) 6 months - they are worried that he might be "bored at school" if he continues!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl: - so hand up a Teacher who would be annoyed at a littlie arriving at school willing to learn?

My son's primary school teacher would have her hand up. My son went to a lovely nursery, where all the children had a learning plan. School was a different matter.

Not that she was annoyed exactly, but she had to get the other 37 children up to a certain level by a certain time. Result: she ignored him and left him to read on his own for an entire term while the others caught up. Suffice it to say he was bored silly at school. If he got up to look for something to do, he was told off.

YAY! Congratulations on all counts MG!

Looking forward to seeing the changing state of the mortgage tree leaves as time goes on!

I am itching to get started - onwards and onwards.

Just watched Spooks - I know, but I shall see my Dad tomorrow and he is bound to let the cat out of the bag so thought I ha better catch up.

So started a new cardi for DS2 - simple back an forward stocking stitch with a strip - nice and easy to run up whilst concentrating on the telly.

Now that I look at it, I appear to be knitting my boy a cardi that reminds me of chocolate limes (is that right??) A chocolate brown base - 4 rows chocolate, 2 rows lime, 4 rows chocolate, 2 rows white, 4 rows chocolate. So he really will be my sweetie :rotfl:

Big vat of mince base on - split half for pasta sauce and half for chilli and the freezer will be pretty stocked.

Something is going wrong - all the plans are coming together.:D

Back to Youtube Claire - once you get it it will stick for life, I promise. One day I will learn how to do fancy knitting, but I do pretty good with my plain and purl stitches. Thankfully boys don't need fancy lacey stuff do they?

To celebrate today I have transferred £12.60 to the mortgage - OK so its 0.01% but its a start.:o

Easy peasy tea tonight - boil some pasta and ladle some sauce out of the slow cooker - Bliss!!! BUt the boys think I am Fabby Mom so that's OK.

  • All this knitting has inspired me to make a pair of winter socks :)

I can do "normal knitting" but nothing fancy with colour changes (like those fairisle socks) or cable or such like... wish I'd listened to my gran when I was younger lol

  • Well I finally got round to revising my budget today, and it was a sobering exercise

I've put my weekly food, petrol and incidentals budget up by 15% (compared to last year) just to break even on the absolute bread and butter basics. I'm adopting the cash-in-an-envelope system from this month to be absolutely sure I stay on track. I've factored in two train trips to HQ, and nothing else. Frugality rules ok!

I need to be careful to keep the savings pot for moving house not just intact, but to grow it as well. I've dipped into it to pay for some clothes and for winter preparation which will pay off re containing the gas and electricity bills, but is still money spent out at this stage. All of what I've done can move house with me. Today has confirmed my need to downsize, I have too much house for my part-time salary. Knowing I was planning to sell, I have been lodger-less for 11 months now. So I'm looking forward to selling! The buyers are on their way! :rotfl: (Just wish they would hurry up!)

I'll also be using money from overtime worked last month to re-stock my storecupboard. I had been running it down in preparation for moving, but I think it will be prudent to build it back up in the meantime, and take it with me when the time comes. It represents a fair deal of security both for potential winter crises and beyond.

Still thinking of jettisoning the TV.... I'll make a decision this week, as my TV licence renewal date falls in November. Thanks greenbee for your experience of dealing with the TV Licencing people. I might ask a friend to store the tv for me in case I change my mind. It's old so has no resale value anyway.

As MG says - onwards and onwards.

  • Had my parent meeting today at playgroup - looking through DS2's PLP (personal Learning plan). They are "concerned" that he is so interested in numbers, recognises so many letters and has got a really good understanding of phonics.

Bear in mind that he is 3 years and (counts on fingers) 6 months - they are worried that he might be "bored at school" if he continues!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl: - so hand up a Teacher who would be annoyed at a littlie arriving at school willing to learn?

So I shrugged my shoulders, said "that's OK - just let him choose" - "but when we do he chooses to do the literacy and numercy stuff" - "that's because he is in the sensitive period for numbers!!!"

The thing is you can't stop him counting at the moment, but you know what next week it will be "I-spy" and the week after dinosaurs or cars. he's three and therefore not endowed with the attention span of a post-graduate:D.
