They usually email you to tell you everything has been packed and to give you an estimated day of delivery.

Then the courier company text's you that day before with an hour-long time slot that you can accept or request another. Mine are pretty good at being there on time.

Thanks - no email yet and I ordered on Saturday so hopefully will hear tomorrow, if not will contact them as is my first order and I was planning to be out Friday (which sods law will be when they want to deliver)

  • Are your knit and purl stitches "matching up" ie if you finish with 2 knit, you start the next row with 2 purl.

Sorry to hear about the anti-freeze MG :( - there are right evil folks about, the scary thing is they think they're within their rights to do it.

Hope you are feeling more positive Horace - lots of good advice above, don't give into this guy's bullying tactics.

Well today the Fly Lady rules, kitchen is all sparkly clean including the cooker, microwave, bin and fridge :A. Just had a cuppa but do you know, I think a second cuppa is called for if anyone cares to join me - hot toasted scone on offer for anyone not on a diet :D.

    I'm trying to make these

    gloves.jpg

and the instructions she gave me are

It's very plain. Sz 5.5mm needles. Cast on 38 stitches. 1st row = k2 p2 to end. 2nd row = p2 k2 to end. Repeat for 7", then sew up leaving gap for thumb.

But I don't seem to be getting the same pattern.

Not long back from the solicitors - I had been to see about a 3hr a week cleaning job. Gawd they are half soaked in there, I was told to be there at 3pm for a show around, I never got the show around and was left hanging about until 3.25 (I was on the verge of leaving) and this chap saw me and said that they had been advertising the job for 3 weeks but people only started applying yesterday, this morning the job was offered to someone who would let them know by 4.30pm today - needless to say I am not holding my breath for a call back.

Had to pay a wee bit more postage 38p to send off the harlequin shot glass set but managed to save 25p on a card from the art shop, the card was marked at £1.75 and the woman told me it was £1.50 so I kept quiet:D I wandered into a charity shop to see what they had, I rarely go in this shop even though I have had some fantastic items from there - the last bargain when I was previously on the dole was a set of 6 Victorian Lemonade Glasses which were given to friends as a present. Oh how I wish I could knit - I was sorely tempted by balls and balls of wool all 100g and all of them £1.50. Mind you if I could knit, I would be unable to wear the items because I am allergic to wool (not sure if it is the lanolin that I am allergic to or the whispy threads which irritate the hell out of me leaving me with welts). Just so you know it is the St Mary's Hospice Shop in Rubery, Bham that has the wool (for any ladies close by who like to knit).

I've had my daily play with microfibre cloths! Weekly housework blitz done. 2 birthday cakes are flat iced and secured to cake boards and drying now. I have also remembered why I hate icing so much - I can't stand the sickly smell!

I'll update you on my chaotic day later... But most importantly I've had a cuddle with my new day-old niece :)

Anyone looking at winter-proofing the house, there's a thread on the OS board with some good ideas.
