  • Sorry to hear your news Crickett. I think its a good idea to enjoy your birthday and week off, not give it a thought and then when you have the feedback you will be refreshed and ready to get those few amendments done and dusted
  • Hugs crickett, I agree not to let it spoil your birthday weekend xxx

Just had a bl00dy fright......killer cat tried stuffing a LIVE pigeon through the cat flap and only failed because stuck in her mouth it was a bit too big:eek::eek::eek:

thankfully the bird is only missing a toe and has managed to find the will to fly off. Killer cat is now confined to barracks and metaphorically in the dog house.

  • Crickett : Sadly your tale of nit-picky authorities is not unusual - I think they are on a power trip! Have a great day tomorrow and a good week off and they might have got the details by the time you come back.

Claire : I'm glad you are feeling better but do take care.

Bitsy Beans : I shouldn't laugh but that reminds me of one of mine, long gone to Rainbow Bridge. She was a tiny black cat with ideas above her station and she used to stalk Seagulls across the lawn - if she had caught one, it would have eaten her, I think because they were bigger than her.

Hugs to all who need them and kicks up the arris to everyone who needs one. I'm off to make Apple chutney with local Bramleys bought cheap in the Farm Shop.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

  • Sounds like a cracking job Horace.

Enjoy your afternoon off, birthday and week off Crickett.

Just back from lunch trip out with ds. Lovely trip out on the bus (once I actually got ds out of the house to the bus-stop - Lord save me from obsessive-compulsive behaviours ). The heavens opened when we got there, so we ran to the caff, enjoyed a scrummy bacon buttie for me and egg buttie for ds, ran back to the bus and sat in a hot, steamy bus for the journey back. Didn't make it to the craft shop but all the more reason for a return visit :D.

Power day continues with cleaning the bathroom, a visit to Mr T's, plus a load of book-keeping. Dd is bringing boyfriend round for tea - at least this one will eat pretty much anything :T. I think a glass of wine will be in order to round off the day.

Hi Crickett, having a ten years old boy means that I am being drawn into watching stuff that I would not normally watch again; like the Rocky movies. But watching them is actually good - I have started refering to a particualr approach to life as the 'Rocky approach', This means that you 'come on to it again and again with all you have, you don't stop, you don't give up'.

From what you are saying it seems to me that some 'Rocky approach' is necessary. For it to work (and you to keep sane and contented) you have to change emotions though; from 'it so crap that it did't work first time' to 'I so want this to work that I'll do it again and again (with changes of course) till I get it'. And you would love doing it - when we do things without love and excitement this shows in the result.

    Thinking of you.

  • Thanks ladies. Well I am home; decided to get all the bad news out of the way at once so went to my local boots and got weighed. Holy Carp. It was bad news again. So now, on the sofa feeling bloody miserable. Sigh. And hungry. But don't want to eat anything because eating is how I got to this *&^% size in the first place. Sigh.

Birthday and pressies tomorrow; probably going to spend it at home as I can't decide what I want to do; but do need to go and do a supermarket shop. Woo. Fun for a birthday, huh? Then on Tuesday, we go off to Oxford for 3 days. Hubby has booked us in at the Randolph! Very very posh indeed. :) Going to do lots of walking and wandering around the dreaming spires.

:rotfl::rotfl: one of our stupid animals has taken to bringing a frog into the house - twice this week. It is the same one each time. Friendly Brown we call him - he looked mighty fed up this morning when I returned him to the pond. He is DHs favourite so I am hoping the cats don't get to excited with him:eek:

Hugs crickett, hang in their hun, winners are the ones who carry on when the going get's tough. I hope you have a lovely birthday weekend

Horace good luck with the job

Struggling a bit here at the moment. Think I may have a touch of the black dog but I've never had it before really so don't know why that would be.

I've been called into school about DS3 already - 2 weeks into term gee I thought I might get to the end of the month. That child drives me to distraction sometimes.

I did manage to get half an hour sitting in the sun with a cuppa today in the hope that some sunshine will improve my mood.

Feeling a bit down at the moment. After the excitement last week of finding a bungalow and various rollercoaster trips in between, when we thought we were going to lose it and our £300 holding fee, we went back for a second viewing today and I was really disappointed. I think I had built it up in my head and the reality is that although there are some nice bits about it, some of it is a bit meh! I am not sure that it is going to be much better than where we are in terms of storage space.

However it is all on one level which is what we want for my daughter and it does have a garage and driveway, which is something we have dreamt about. Where we live now my daughter has to walk a fair distance to even get to her car, so being able to get straight into it will be luxury. I think we might play car shuffle quite a bit though, as it will probably be the case that whoever is on the drive will be in the way of the one wanting to get out of the garage.

It has a nice conservatory, which will be my daughters craft room - so she is very happy with that. My bedroom here is so small you can't even walk round the bed. In my head I had imagined that my room at the new place was quite a bit bigger, but seeing it again today I am not so sure.

It definitely needs a good clean and I think the letting agent could see the disappointment on my face, as he said it would be professionally cleaned before we move in. Perhaps once we get our own things in there it will look better. It needs painting too as the colours don't really suit us, so that will be more expense. Ideally I would like it done before we move, but not sure the time lines will allow it.

I just wish they would give us a moving date, as we would know what we were moving towards then. Sorry for the long rant, just disappointed I guess.
