One more work call, then OH will be here. I haven't seen him for two weeks! The house is tidy, I have chicken, fennel and green peppers cooking and broccoli ready to steam. Fresh sweetcorn for a starter and hm tiramisu for pudding (recipe on the flylady thread if you want it). Bed has been stripped and vacuumed so we can turn the mattress tonight and make it up with clean sheets to go with the clean house. Logs and kindling have been restocked and the grass was cut yesterday. And I have his presents... In addition to the one he asked for! Even the sun is shining.

I need him to remember how happy he is here, and hopefully he will make the step of acting on his decision that he wants to live here (a bit scary for me, as i like living alone, but I know he will be happier).

Today, I made a boob in Sainsbury's - I had picked up some milk bags (they were 2 for £1.50 and were equivalent to 4pints) and one was leaking so I went to exchange it when I spotted a man in a black top laden down with stuff so I mistakenly thought he was a member of staff and reported this milk bag to him - he was a customer doing his shopping:o How embarrassing is that?

:rotfl: well if you're gonna embarrass yourself might as well do it in public ;)

Groatie - well done on your walk :T

Horace - welcome to the thread :)

Marru - personally I would find the manager, apologise face to face saying it wasn't your intention of stepping on their toes and then brush up CV with intention of getting the he'll out of there.

Had lovely morning of coffee and chat with friends whilst the kids played. Then came home (in glorious sunshine, why wait til I am off hols for this?!) and vac-ed out the car ready for it's MOT tomorrow. It no longer looks like half of Cromer beach is there. See mojo is slowly coming back :D

GQ what an utterly wonderful post. Thank you. I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the walk and I love the idea of the photographs. I take photographs whenever I can. There is a particular tree in the forest that I photograph regularly and I have 2 years worth of different photos of it. Amazing to look back on.

Crickett - hope that you are feeling calmer FW speaks wisely.

Souk - YUK what a thing to return to. Still it all adds up on the evidence levels for your intereviews when they say "Tell me about a time when......"

Loving the vibe on here today.

HL - well done on the name change and the start of your new life. Fingers crossed for that property you like
Welcome Horace. I noticed somebody advertising themselves on facebook to get a job. I was very impressed.

Sorry if I missed anybody - away for 2 days with work and just catching up.

The other half was in our car till a couple of days ago. :rotfl:
First achievement of the new month - a big deal for me (in 4th year of recovery from a serious health challenge) - I left the car at home and walked into the centre of my rural city along the river path, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I am so thankful. First time in 6 years, and I managed both directions, easier coming home (outward leg is uphill). So, so enjoyable, even if a push at present - will work on it.

So, one of my September priorities will be to do the walk 3 days a week on non-work days, weather permitting, to build up stamina and lung capacity again. Free exercise, beautiful scenery and is sheer contentment after so many years :):)

I'll combine with a little photography project which is to capture exactly the same scene on the first day of each month for 12 months, to track the seasons. With Autumn's technicolour due to unfold, no doubt I'll take many extras - I love Autumn!!

Congratulations and thank you for making me remember to celebrate the little things. We've got trees turning yellow here and I photographed some today along the canal.

Welcome Horace and hugs all round to everyone who needs one.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Mrs Moo, you mentioned Springboard earlier in the thread - I lurk these days just trying to keep up!! :D

I was thinking about doing it to build my confidence personally, and also in the academic circles I inhabit. I can give scripted presentations okay, but asking questions or giving my own opinion is eeep! Terrifying! Do you think the Springboard course would help with this sort of thing?

I also wanted to ask if it's in a very corporate language? I get a bit turned off by some aspects of business-motivation-speak. I don't know why but it makes me a bit uncomfortable - though I recognise it's very legitimate and useful for a huge amount of people. I hope it's okay to ask on the thread, as I thought it might benefit some others. :)

  • Hi to Horace and other newbies.

Hugs to Crickett - hope the suit and make up did the trick. For me I have to redo my lippy when I want t be especially confident.

Well done GQ, and the walk itself sounds lovely.

    Bit of a rant.

Well, although a day late forced myself to get into ds room. I usually refuse as he leaves it in such a tip.

He and his gf made a start yesterday and left it in not such a bad state but he had left so much washing:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I know he is old enough to do it himself but I couldn't bear the prospect of the usual argument so I have washed and ironed it all today.

There will now be an ultimatum as I don't intend to spend another beautiful day (or dank and horrible day for that matter) clearing up after him.

    Sorry for rant.

    Good evening :)

Taken me ages to catch up.

Funeral was very sad but lovely at the same time. He was sent off in a lovely eco friendly coffin painted with steam engines all over it. and this poem read

    After Glow
I’d like the memory of me
    to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done,
I’d like to leave an echo
    whispering softly down the ways,
    Of happy times and laughing
    times and bright and
    summer days.
I’d like the tears of those who
grieve, to dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave
    When life is done.

and he chose this song to be played http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usDASCHGVl8

We are all absolutely shattered now though, it will be bliss to sleep in our own beds again :). Have managed to do two loads of washing (one has already dried on the line this afternoon :).

Went into cheltenham yesterday and found a lovely piece of material 90" by 110" for £2.49  so just had to pick it up :)
