OOps!!! Yesterdays challenge my lovelies, today's is from Mr B and its on the Matrix:

"He's making a list, he's checking it twice"

OK, OK, I know its still summer time - but today I'd like you to create two lists. One for the people you would like to send Christmas cards to, the second for those you are going to buy presents for. But this is a de-cluttering exercise - so ask yourself "would my cousins, ex-wives, grown-up kids really mind if I didn't send a letter this year? Would they even notice?

Now celebrate - you now know how many cards you need, how many stamps and how many presents.

Tuck the presents list into your bag so that you always have it with you - then when you spot something out and about you will be able to start collecting. Spread the stress and the cost of preparing for that special time by getting a jump on the season.

MG or anyone else who uses Approved Food - would you like to recommend me and get whatever bonuses for it? Please PM me - I just got an email from AF about free shipping, but have never bought from them, so if I can help someone out, then I'd like to :)

Sleepover last night went ok but didn't start till about 11pm!! Girls are tired but happy today and currently cooking their own bacon butties (under vague supervision).

Was having a bit of a think yesterday and started writing a list of all the things I've done this summer (cos had a few 'you haven't done enough school work' negative thoughts)

So a quick precis is: had a holiday:j
decluttered ds clothes, broken chairs, back
garden, playhouse, front garden, dd's entire
room, garage tools, dh's tops, chn's books,
    porch, my grungy undies
    sanded and painted front step
emptied classroom and moved everything into
new room and put it all away
    sorted out household papers
    decorated dd's room
    started running again
started weekly meal plans and shop
    had time with friends
    done some stitching
had lots of marble moments and fun:j

So shot that negative little voice well and truly in the head and congratulated me on everything achieved so far - still got 6 holi-days to squeeze even more out of life:)

I'm starting to like them too... I keep hoping they'll have more lentils and pulses and unflavoured couscous... It would be great if you could set alerts for certain products! The problem is they never have ALL the things you want at the same time. And the good stuff goes very quickly... Like the organic flour a week or so ago.

Mind you... I need to eat more of my stores before restocking for winter. So I have mung beans and aduki beans soaking. If they are in the freezer in portions I will be more likely to eat them regularly!

Woohoooo - how much do I love my Mum???

She is at the DEntist today - so is comingin for lunch and to see DS2 after playgroup. She has just texted to say she has got thermals for the boys (leggings and t-shirt tops) for £3.00 per pack, buy one get one free :j

Another thing ticked off my preparation for winter list.

Better go and make her a scrummy lunch to say thank-you.

Oooh lucky you re: thermals - did your mummykins get them from a national chain or somewhere local? I'm keen to get warm clothes for DD for winter, having already bought her snow boots earlier in the summer as we're bound to have another 'fun' winter down here again *brrrr*.

Thanks for the PM re: AF, it turned out I already had an account with them :( Not sure how....but anyhoo, by careful manipulation of my order, I have enough beans and beany soup mix to keep an army going for the winter - am hoping it'll be delivered before the weekend as I'm hoping to go and see a friend who is trying to keep her and her daughter's heads above water on the dole, and rather than choccies and flowers, I'm going to take a food package of good veggie stuff, oh and a bottle of wine :):)

I did an inventory of my food cupboards whilst DD was watching cartoons and OMG, how many tins of beans??? My neighbours call my house the quartermaster's stores, and with good cause!!

I'm teaching DD to knit and she wants to make her grandparents a scarf each for christmas, how cute is that. So far she's done about 3 stiches and I've done the rest, but it's lovely that she wants to learn and at least we're starting in August, so plenty of time......I think we'll need it!!

I've done it, I have, I have, I have, and they are mostly all wrapped up and tagged, Xmas pressies that is, all I have left to get now is birthday pressies, cos all my offspring and DGD's ans GDS were all born between November and December (got 1 son on Xmas day) bad planning lol.

Gm all, hope I find you all well. I'm goo, have put the past to bed and am moving onwards and upwards, positive vibes and hugs to all who need them.

Kittikins - I think a comfort package is a wonderful idea for your friend. It made a world of difference to me when I hit rock bottom.

I remember a certain little dog loving lady on here bringing free range eggs with her one day when she popped in. They kept us eating during a very sticky week.
