  • Good Morning,
    Pay day tomorrow WAHOOO!

Work is pretty quiet this week as everyone is off for half term so I am going get my spreadsheet ready for tomorrow and check my standing orders are all up to date in my bank, so all my accounts will be filled up for me when I log in tomorrow.

Then I am going to make my shopping list and break it down into 3 shops (Al***, Poundies and Mr A), I will pay a visit to Mr A's on Saturday. I have just looked on their website as I am at an engagement party on Saturday night, they have champagne for half price so I am praying that it is still on offer when I do my shopping, was going to put some money in a card so that will save me a £8.

I am going out this Saturday and next Friday so I need to work out a budget, I also need to work out a budget for Bonfire night.

I have lots of meals in the freezer so we will start working our way through those, I will also do a meal plan for the month today then I will know what to buy on Saturday.

I love messing about with my spreadsheet and sorting meal plans...how sad is that?

My cough is very annoying and I think I am getting on everyones nerves in the office, its really tickly.

OH was taking DD out for the day today but she isn't very well so I called and they are sat at home in the warmth reading.

Will arrange our house insurance tomorrow....Aviva have a better offer on topcashback than Esure but I need to check out what you get.

    Have a good day everyone.

    xx

  • OMG, I have just totted up the full extent of last months spend diary.

Massive spend from the clothes pot £327!!!!!

Infact the spends for Aug and Sept (not inluding bills), have averaged £830...October was £1385!!!!! !!!!!!?

I am not going to beat myself up too much over this as I did have some money saved ready to buy clothes and it was my birthday but I certainly didn't have £500 extra.

On a good note, no CC's used and groceries came in under budget...I just 'borrowed' from my holiday savings.

I need to be careful I don't end up back in my old 'got to have it now' ways. :(

  • Fuming, asked OH for half of the money for the pressie bottle of champers for a party we are both going to on Saturday night and he said no as he buys for his friends and I buy for mine. I said what about the kids pressies I buy for all our mates kids and all the pressies I buy for DD's parties? Anyway I then said its only £6 so it doesn't matter.

Is this what its gonna be like forever? He wanted to split the money so he has caused this. And whats more he is in a mood over it, shouldn't that be me? !!!!!!.

Anyway I am in bed now as was awake most of the night with a cough, DD said I need to go to docs and she might listen to my tummy bless.

  • So seen as he has made this agreement on your behalf (you buy your friends he buys his) then I would tell him that as he made that rule you will go along with it but that you are making the rule that he contributes 50% to DD party presents and friends childrens presents and say I assume that you think that is fair!

Cheeky beggar...he earns more than you too! And you made concessions for him when you were the higher earner...cheek

    Hope you feel better soon
  • Hi KM,
Thank you. Yes I totally agree he needs to pay half of the presents, he just wants it all ways. He wants to take his money and not spend on anything other than himself. He obviously knew I was right as his reply to my text regarding me paying for all the presents was 'whatever'.

He took his car in today to have all the wheels reconditioned (£50+ per wheel)...obviously this is essential to keeping his car running.

HI LL - good about the vouchers. Not great about the spends - but sometimes it is when you start managing your money you start actually noticing how much you spend - and then over time you start doing something about it. At least debt wise and savings wise you are going in the right direction.

I don't understand your OH at all.... So sympathies.....

Luckily I've been with mine long term an while he gets on my nerves sometimes and I am sure I do on his we have always treated all money as ours jointly and shared in both messy debt and success accordingly!! We've avoided all the his and her money arguments - but then we did get married before we were earning!!!

  • Morning All,

    Payday YEY! :j

All accounts are up to date and pots are full, Next bill paid off for the items I ordered last week...using gift card too.

I am popping out at lunch time to Al*** and Poundies for food. I have made a list of things I need.

Still feel rough today, had a bad nights sleep as had to sleep on my back so I didn't cough, then DD got in with me and she has a blocked nose...I need to match sticks to keep my eyes open.

SH, I don't get OH either. He has caused this problem as he wanted to split the money, he did it as soon as he got his first pay slip on his new wage. When we first met he couldn't wait to share money as he earned half of what I did, so when we got married I happily shared it and my income was still a lot more than his, right up until this year when he got his new job. He has done me a favour in a way because I am a lot better off than I was when we shared money (as I handle it better and have quite a lot more now as not subsidising him) but he made his bed and now he won't lie in it.

The other annoying thing is that we signed a document on our second house to say that the equity was mine as I had my own house when we met but then we got married we did away with the document and we bought the third house. Now when we talk about splitting up he can't see how he isn't entitled to half of the profit and the first £40k should be mine! Its all about him and always will be. :(

    Right, pots look like this

Christmas £333 (spent on pressies £92)
Car £605 (need 2 tryes and service...tax already bought for the year £115)
    B'day pressies £63
    DD's pot £165
Holiday £926 (bit lower then before as bought clothes)
    Cosmetics £65
Clothes and Entertaiment £100 (have paid Next so whats left is for entertainment)
    Food and Petrol £350
    Everything else £180
    £2 savings...£52

Buffer £1815 (this is my hidden money until things are sorted one way or another with OH) ;)

Wonder when I will hear from PPI...knowing my luck I won't get anything.
