Hi Livvy oh dear to the childcare situ, you know I was going through it only a few weeks ago.
I got mad when I was telling my friend how mil had let me down etc and her mum stuck her oar in saying well she doesnt have to look after them if she doesnt want! I was like !!!!!! if you commit something like that you can hardly start backing out.
The thing certainly with my mil is she never had to worry about childcare so they dont realise how stressful it can be rearranging work etc.

    Roll on January!!! xx

Childcare can be the biggest stressor of working parents - all that juggling.... My MIL has my DD all next week for me.... Makes a world of difference - would cost me over £100 otherwise.... assuming I could even get her in anywhere...

  • Hi peeps,

You know Mummy, thats what the problem is with my MIL, she has never had to work and has never had to rely on any one to look after her kids. The fact she has never had to work means she can't see that my job is important. She just thinks I can come and go as I please and take time when I please. OH always has that line about not having to look after the kids, she effing offered. And she will choose SIL's DD over my DD anytime.

SH, thats very lucky for you as it would probably cost you more than £100 to get DD looked after for a week. I don't know what I will do when DD starts school and then gets all that time off for hols, my work hols won't cover them.

I have ironed tonight, feel fed up. As soon as I start ironing I get myself in a mood. I feel like I am existing at the moment and not living. I need to go away or do something but the whole situ with OH means I either go with him (which I am not sure I want to ATM) or take DD on my own and then inevitably OH will want to take her away on his own and I am not ready to let her go away without me yet.

OH is still ill, haven't seen him since Monday. He hasn't even asked to speak to DD on the phone but then when we fall out he tries to tell me he misses her as much as me, right oh!

How depressing is my post tonight? lol...sorry!

  • OK fresh eyes today!

I have been having a think and I am going to do lots more with DD on weekends. For Halloween we are already going to one event but I am going to arrange to go to another one at the local club the Sunday night before (£2 a ticket).
Then for bonfire night I am going to buy some fireworks from Tesco and some sparklers, put a pan of chilli on and some jackets in and have a mini firework party for DD, will invite DM and a couple of friends....friend in similar situation with her OH.

I tidied out the table draw in the front room last night, it is now totally empty. Everything is back where it belongs and the change I found in there is in a pot I found in the cupboard, it was a xmas pressie for OH last year with a bottle of Magners and a glass in...I took them out and now its a savings pot.
I also found some Euros so they are now in the Bud tankard....both pots in the study. On top of that I found DD's paying in book so I can put her birthday money in the bank.
Next on my mess busting adventure are the under sink cupboards and the airing cupboard. Oh and OH's bedside draw which is full to the brim with receipts.

Hoping to have a NSD today, infact I should be having a fairly low spend weekend as I haven't got an awful lot left. Got my payslip today...its £4 less than last months !!!!!!?

Hi LL - you are going through a lot at the moment - it would be amazing if you weren't feeling a rollercoaster of emotion over it all so give yourself permission to be human - to grieve what could have been, should have been, would have been, might have been. Over time you will get a more balanced view of it all and perhaps see some of the positives in the situation more easily. At the moment I would imagine you're bone weary looking after your DD with very little help and trying to get on top of money and be supermum all at the same time....

Be kinder to yourself..... Allow rest time for you .... where you do .... erm... nothing....

    Just a thought....

  • Hi SH,

Aw thank you, I know I guess I should give myself a break...even a break from my thoughts would be a start.

I cleaned out a drawer tonight and found £30 M&S vouchers...feel like I have won the lottery lol. Will buy Christmas pressies or food with these I think.

  • Hi everyone,

Had a busy day sorting cupboards out today, I need some order to my undersink cupboards so have managed to put all laundry things in the utility room cupboard and the rest in the kitchen. Whilst I was sorting I found a handwash which I must have got on BOGOF, which was good timing as the handwash in the kitchen has just emptied.

I got a voucher from Next for complaining.....£20! WAHOO, so on top of the M&S vouchers have made £50 in the space of a day.

DD is still full of cold and the cough is back, hope it doesn't rear its ugly head in the night again.

The dog has some kind of spot thing on his bottom, so looks like a trip to the vets, thats £15 just for a blooming look. So all my money finds will probably be cancelled out, although OH will have to go halves.

Mate is coming round for some wine tonight...still getting through birthday wine.

I have had a NSD today and I had one yesterday too, two full days until pay day....bring it on. Good news regarding RPI, it looks like its going to be 5.6% (in Januarys pay) which will be great as our pension contributions are going up over the next 3 years so need to cover those and have a bit extra. I have done all my calcs already but need to have it in my pay packet before I get over excited about anything.

Strictly and X factor tonight....love Saturday TV (must be getting old).

Had the heating on for an hour this morning but the sun coming in the french doors has kept the house warm all day and I haven't felt cold once....hope I am adapting.

    Have a great evening everyone.

  • Evening All,

Hi Mummy, I sometimes think my luck is turning and then something hits be in the face like a big wet fish lol. So hoping there are no wet fish around next week.

Today I have had a small spend day...I had to draw £20 for the cleaner tomorrow. Oh I know, I shouldn't have a cleaner but to be honest I couldn't work full time and look after house, dog and child on my own so she is my luxury...I pay for her all myself as OH isn't here so don't expect him to cough up. If I found that I really struggled then she would be the first thing I would let go.

Anyway that was my last £20 until Tuesday. I got a £2 in my change in the shop for DD's smarties so have saved it. So tomorrow (like it or not), will be a NSD.

OH has agreed to the firework night, not without a whinge about it being here and we could have gone to a display, but when I said we could have sparklers and it was for DD he changed his tune. !!!!!! he never comes up with anything and then has a blooming say about what I plan. Anyway I put my foot down, I said we would get a £30 box of fireworks and he said they would be rubbish...well I saw that coming. So I said DD doesn't care what they are like and it is for her so he said well we could get 2 boxes...I just agreed but there will only be 1 box in my shopping.

I made lamb tagine for tea (it was my whoopsied one from Asda), OH arrived just as it was ready so I offered him some. He wasn't sure about couscous but I said thats what I am making, think he knew not to say anything and just accept it or else he would have been buying himself a takeaway. Get me!

Egg Mayo HM sarnie for lunch tomorrow, the last of my eggs! Tommorrow I will be making my shopping list for Al*is and Poundies and popping there Tuesday lunch time because although my freezer is full there is nothing left in the fridge or snack cupboard.

I seem to have developed DD's cough, so reckon tonights going to be a long one.

    Nite Nite xx
