ohh if you don't care about the sat nav thingy then this pda isn't for you. you're better off with those HP £300 pda.

I can certainly see I'd be better off, but I would be rather poorer as well. The question then is how much better off would I be by being £200 poorer?

the pda doesn't feels like a quality pda. even the old HP 2210 that i had feels much sleek and posh.

this £100 pda doesn't have wifi and bluetooth. the cpu isn't the fastest available and is nowhere near half as fast as the latest cpu. looking at the screen i can feel that it's not high resolution, even amatures can tell it's not very good when viewing photos taken from digi camera. battery not swappable

good thing about this pda is the gps receiver is build-in, so you don't have to worry about charging battery for a gps receiver and another pda/mobile phone battery.

    hope this helps

"Good thing about this PDA".... is that it costs only £99, and has SatNav thrown in. Indeed!

Seems pretty good to me. To buy a Bluetooth GPS receiver thingy that talks to my mobile will cost £50 approx. And then I have to either have SatNav or mobile. This seems a bargain.

Yes, the TomTom One might have better software, but is it worth 150% of the price for those who need really basic, occasional use of a SatNav to get them from A to B?

I had various pocket PC's (iPaqs, XDA2s etc.) since Tomtom Navigator 3 software was current. I now have the Navman Pin 570 with Tomtom Navigator 6 installed and I must say it's the best all round solution for me. I do use the diary and contacts on the pocket PC bit for work alot and it is just fine. Features like bluetooth and wi-fi are good to have but I find, for me they aren't essential.

Having less cables running around the car (to a seperate receiver) is a great bonus, probably the main reason I bought it. I believe you can get other GPS based software for walking etc. off-road which would make use of the inbuilt GPS receiver when not connected into a car.

Don't forget that these are marketed as a SatNav device that ALSO doubles as a PocketPC, not the other way round.

I can't think of many things you would need a fast processor on a PocketPC for!

If you can find one with wifi and Bluetooth for £100, buy it. You won't find one however. You probably won't find another similar performance PocketPC for £100 either.

    Screen is standard PocketPC resolution.

    What's an amature? :D

I do agree with you, it's still a good price for an all round solutions. I was just pointing out the facts to grahawk what he'll get with an actual pda rather than a nav with pda function, since that's what he was asking.

about the screen resolutions, i was comparing it to the HP 4700 which i couldn't afford, it has VGA resolution 640 x 480 while this pda has 240 x 320.

    Correction "Amateur" :D

Whilst I can see the point you are making, is this not the same as comparing a Ford Escort to a Ferrari.

Both get you there, but one does it with a lot more class for a huge amount more money?

Can you point me to a similar or better spec'd sat nav + pda for less than a hundred quid?
