Navman PiN 570 SatNav £99.99 at Halfords

I reckon this is a good price for this Windows Mobile 2003 PocketPC-based satnav.

Speed Cameras can be added easily.

Plenty in stock when I went in for something else this morning - I think this offer only started today ??

Available in store and online:

Don't forget 2% cashback on rpoints (not sure about the other reward sites).

Also how does this compare with the Tom Tom brand? What I am after is a basic sat nav system that is going to get to my destination accurately and not send me on long diversions. So far I am impressed with what I have seen from others who have Tom Toms, is it worth paying that little bit extra? I do not know anyone who has a Navman so don't know if it is as good.

5 + Street on these unfortunately.

BUT, you can install TomTom, so this is a good price for a PocketPC with car kit to start with.

 I posted about this days ago, my hubby hasn't stopped fiddling with it since! he reckons it's great, the woman's voice gets very grating though, had to change it to the man.

I think Quidco give 4% cashback.

Not sure how it compares with TomTom since I haven't used that brand, but this price does seem a bargain for what is effectively a PDA with SatNav included.

I suspect it is similar to the Acer N35 Lite, which gets good reviews here http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/100325 at £132 even for the Lite version which does not include a mains charger etc.

It also comes with European Maps on CD, but I guess you'd have to pay extra for an unlock code. It may also be necessary to increase the SD memory, but a 2GB can be had on Amazon for under a tenner now (and Viking brand too).

Navman have a good name, but not sure if this device uses the same software as the later F20 Navman, which again gets good reviews. This is Smart ST 2005.

If you are likely to make use of any of the other apps bundled with it, MP3 playing, the Outlook etc then this really is a bargain price.

Ahhh...found it now :D Buried in a reply on another thread in 'Shop but Don't Drop' - worth a Grabbit! posting in my opinion.

Great value for people who want a PocketPC as well!

How exactly would you install TomTom - Is TomTom available as a download or something?
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

TomTom Navigator software is available as a separate purchase - this can be installed on the Pin570. Navigator 5 works well (but is also only 5 digit postcode - unsure if there are multiple versions), I have read on web sites that Navigotor 6 (only released a couple of months ago) can also be installed but is slow - so not sure on this one.

EDIT: Thanks to withabix - I now have full post code working with TomTom Navigator 5.

Sorry, can't possibly direct you to P2P filesharing networks as that isn't allowed on here!

Not correct. TomTom 5 is full 7/8 digit postcode when set up correctly. Bug fix instructions are on TomTom website.

TomTom 6 was slow when first installed on my Micromaxx (Mio 168 clone), but works at normal speed after first setup.

TomTom 5 is better however IMO, as it has landscape mode (ie you can turn the screen sideways). TomTom 6 relys on hardware's landscape mode, which MOST PocketPCs don't have!

TomTom 6 has more up-to-date maps (2006 data rather than 2005), road speed limit indication (not always correct - M6 over Shap is a 60 limit apparently!!!), but not much else that I can see that makes it worth upgrading to.
