Navman PiN 570 SatNav £99.99 at Halfords

I have the Navman PiN and have just purchased the wireless card mentioned above. When I do a wireless search on my PC I get my own network (showing 4 out of 5 bars of reception) as well as one other. However, when my PDA searches for networks it can't see mine. Why is this? What can I do? I've tried standing right next to the wireless router and it still won't find it!0

I was told the heated windscreen elements may be a problem but they seem fine, but it struggles to get a decent signal through the tinted glass on the picasso.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what have you done ?
I have tried putting it on the quaterlight but that didn't work.
I may have to invest in an aerial, does anyone have any idea which I need and where to get them?
Thanks
Try the thread about Navsure in these forums, you can get one for a quid in Halfords if lucky, and quick..

Snap, then sometimes it just connects fine.
Try updating the drivers to the latest version, if it's the one from eBuyer then they are on the Safecom site.
Mine connects and still doesn't always show the network it is connected to in the scan screen, how weird is that. And it drops the connection at the drop of a hat. Not great but OK most of the time. It could be the interaction with my router, and not 100% compatible.
NB anyone thinking of buying one of the SDIO wifi cards, you might actually do better on places like eBay as there are 802.11g 54mbps versions for about £22 whereas I spent £20 on a 802.11b 11mbps version by being too hasty (again).I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!

Wow this thread went off topic
So what have we learnt?
The Navman Pin570 is cheap £99 isn't a bad price for satnav no matter how you look at it.
The unit isnt brilliant, low spec compared to current PDA's and running windows mobile 2003 but it is only £99.
The resolution, ALL PDA's have been 240x320 for a while only the newer ones are now 640x480 it isnt an issue the image is fine at the lower resolution.
Smart ST nav software isnt brilliant, we know everyone likes tom tom and it isnt a patch on tom tom.
Ive been playing with a pin 570 for a few days putting tom tom 6 on it for a friend, I had a few problems but nothing to bad.
The receiver isnt brilliant, every other GPS I have used gets a signal sat on the window sill this one only just gets one and looses it pretty quickly. Problem fixed with a £1 spent at halfords on a antenna
I have had problems reading a 2gb card, I suspect it is the card and not the pda.
As a PDA there are a few short comings that people like wireless and bluetooth, you can buy both a bluetooth SDIO card and a wireless SDIO card to give you both functions. Don't worry about the speed of the wifi card the pda wont be able to throughput anywhere near 11mbps never mind 54mbps.
My advice, buy one, they are a decent price and a reasonable piece of kit. Ive got all my PDA's for nowt and just bought a bluetooth gps to go with them, If been using tom tom since version 2, 3, 5 and now 6. 5 was quicker than 6 but the maps are better on version 6, the speed limit indicator on 6 is ok but isnt 100% accurate. tom tom traffic is good if you have a gprs/3g connection to get the updates and has saved me loads of time not sitting in traffic jams.0 -
unfortunately they are showing as not available now0

Are you talking about the PIN570 or the antenna?
The 570's are still widely available but you do seem to have to ask in store for one. The one at Riversway Preston had 20 but they were in the back and not on display when I bought mine.
Chorley had some in last Friday.
Just picked up several of the antennas, these were in the clearance item section with the USB cables0 -

Ah ok I will try my local Yeovil Store and see if they have 1 or 20 -
