I bet, at times you thought this day would never come!! Well done for getting over so many hurdles and getting your hands on the house you wanted. Patience.
Really pleased for you, I think we were the ones that have been lurking on this thread for the longest with our tales or woe!! At least one of us has completed.....one down one to go!

We still have not been contacted about having a survey done......over a week since it was requested, so who knows. Solicitor and EA are as frustrated as us, so I think it's just a hang on in there time.

Looks like you have plenty to keep you occupied in the coming months, I hope you enjoy it!
  • Thank you - spent another day there cleaning and vacuuming! And we finally have a working heating system though the house having been unheated for the last 6 months still is quite cold. Felt very strange walking to the high street to grab some lunch and a newspaper and start getting to know the area.

Has the EA spoken to the buyer to find out why they haven't organised this additional (unnecessary) survey yet? And you are right we had seemed to be wading through treacle together. I must admit at one point (just before Christmas), I thought you would get there first.

I was surprised to see that our house has already been removed from Rightmove - and they have said the board will be removed shortly but that if we wanted we could lay it down in the garden. (On the other hand it provides a good marker for the tradesmen coming to the house so I might leave it up for a few more days:rotfl:.)
  • Hello all,

I am new to MSE so forgive me if I am clueless.
Thanks to everyone who shared their experience. It helps me understand the whole buying process a bit better.
I am a ftb and I had a offer accepted on a one bedroom flat. I got a mortgage offer from Halifax a week after the offer was accepted and my solicitor has started with searches. It's a leasehold.
What sort of things could be challenging at this stage please? I am hoping to complete by mid-March.

    Thanks for your help! :-)
  • Hi all!

Not sure if any one is still looking at this thread but thought I would update as finally look like we will complete next week, 6 months after being asked to complete in 28days! Slow progress down to vendors dreadful solicitor who then disappeared on maternity leave, and a faulty floorplan which missed the bay window that has been there for 150 years! Still very good news that we should complete before the stamp duty relief ends and the delay has meant we have been able to get them to extend the lease to 999 years for free :0) it's been one hell of a ride but I can see the end!
