Mummytobe are you in yet???
Anyone else with any good stories/updates?0 -
Well at some point I would like to have something good to report BUT not yet!!!:(
We have now rung the mortgage company to find out why we haven't heard anything further only to find that they only heard from their surveyor today (a whole week sitting on our reports), saying "the work needs to be done", they aren't even clear what that means!!! (Or at least the person on the phone isn't sure what it means anyway).
WE have now asked the mortgage company to put a retention on the mortgage if that will get things moving. We think the amount of work is less than £10000 going by the quotes we have received. But shouldn't it be the mortgage company suggesting it to us!!!0 -

Sugared frog- they have been a nightmare with you haven't they??? And as per usual you are having to hold their hands every step of the way and make suggestions to them......
Does this mean dreams of moving in before xmas are out the window?
If it makes you feel any better, I have nothing at all to report either!! Buyers still no mortgage offer, nobody tells us anything except stock answer 'still waiting on mortgage offer'. No explanation, dispite me requesting them. Buyer not giving much away just saying its all fine!!
AArrrrrrggghhhh, 5 children, 4 weeks till xmas, please please please make this happen!!! Good luck with the mortgage company0 -
No I'm still clinging onto the hope that it will be ours before Christmas. I know it will seem odd but I've not bought anything for this house and one of the first things I want to buy is a set of Christmas lights for the tree in the front garden - just because I always imagined we would have completed by Christmas.
Once(if) the offer is in, we will go straight to searches which our solicitor says will only take 48 hrs - and hope nothing pops up there. To be honest I'm not even sure what searches entails (other than handing over money and some checks going on) ... just know it is the next step I want to be doing.0 -
btw have you guys gone for full survey or homebuyer report?:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one
:beer::beer::beer:0 -
Full survey - it's an older property so for the small amount of extra money it was worth it to get a detailed break down of work we need to do soon. And then the extra surveys on top.0

Hi!
Can i join in too?
Ive just read the whole thread... thank god im not the only one thinking im going crazy!
We put a offer on our house on 23rd Sept was accepted in 20 mins
we are in not in a chain either way, me and partner currently in rented... seller is a developer.
We asked if it could be done before christmas, we got told no problem! But seems as if this may not be the case- we havent been told this wont happen but no one will say it may still
We have been told we could exchange in a week, or 4 weeks! Basically we are waiting on the enquires which we were told on friday by the estate agent it was now with the seller to sign off, our solicitors say its still with the guys solicitors. No one has been able to get ahlod of either since Monday which is slightly worrying
We are in a rented property and still need to give notice as we cant double up on rent and mortgage
any ideas how to be less stressed and speed things up? Hope this makes sense! lol

Of course you can join in!!! Welcome to the no movement on moving club!!!!
No ideas on how to be less stressed and speed things up i'm afraid. I am the most stressed ever and phone EA and sol's (and often the buyers) and still none the wiser!!!
You seem in a very similar boat and it does help (ever so slightly) to know your not the only ones going through this!
It's hard not knowing when to hand notice in and not being given any answers isn't it!!
Good luck to you and sugared frog (and myself) to all complete by xmas.
Sugaredfrog- I have a similar vision to be in for xmas (although thought by Oct originally! if only) of doing my tree new decs, hot choc with the kids etc etc.....just a little 'new house' dream but christmas is a big thing, and my two little ones aged 4 and 2 it is a huge event for them. I don't want to be putting decs up here in the hope we will be moving, but don't want my children to start on at me about them!!
Fingers crossed for us all- I read on another thread, a solicitor saying that it's amazing how quickly things can progress in the lead up to xmas, because everybody wants to be in their new home by then! heres hoping

Hi All, just joining thread...
well we were suppose to exchange today/tomorrow but its all gone to pot. Basically, there are two titles for our purchase; one for the house and part garden and one for the back on the garden which was bought separately. Anyway, the mortgage had been paid off by the vendors but the lender only discharged the charge from the first title. The second title still has a charge saying Barclays has an interest in the property.
Not sure whats going on at the moment, waiting for solicitor to get back to me.

Glad to see everyone is getting on well with their moves - except the odd hiccup. We've been in 6 weeks now and were so grateful to the vendors and solicitor for the stress free ride!
Good luck to you all and keep us updated with how you're getting on!30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0
