Hi All, can anyone help two lads in desperate need of spending some money on a short trip to Vegas in November, so far they have been quoted £500 each, direct flights from Gatwick with Virgin and staying in the Circus Circus hotel.
Does anyone have any ideas in getting this price cheaper as they need to save as much money as possible, so that they can LOSE more in the Slot Machines, ha ha.
They can travel from any London Airport, pref Gatwick, between the 16th and 23rd for either 3, 4 or 5 night stay.
Cheers :beer:0 -

Register online with virgin flying club, buy 2000 miles for £35 use them to purchase a miles puls money fare on the dates you want..£305 plus the £35 is £340 each plus about $45 a night at CC (but much better hotels out there) all details of sites to look for are in this thread but fatwallet.com is one to find deals...so they should be able to do it for about £400 a head and IMO go for as many days as they can0 -
plus about $45 a night at CC (but much better hotels out there)
Agree with that and while it's not posh, a lot of people would suggest Imperial Palace for the location alone if you're looking for a budget hotel - much better than CC and they have a special for $65 weekdays and $85 weekends (per room, not per person) which includes some extras - details here:
http://www.imperialpalace.com/stay.php?subid=8&contentid=284
You do have to call to check if the special is available for your dates, but Trets posted a way to get 1p calls to the US a few posts back.
I also agree that you should go for as many days as you can - that's an awfully long flight for anything less than 5 nights, IMHO...we never go for less than 8 nights ourselves...anything less seems too short.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
agree with that. IP over Circus Circus anyday given location . you might also consider the Excalibur as well with this promo from $46pn. your dates have plenty of nights available at that price.

the £340 price direct from Gatwick sounds a pretty reasonable as well
the only reason to stop in at Circus Circus if you don't have kids IMO is if you want to ride the Canyon Blaster roller Coaster or like to see circus acts for free . the ones we saw were pretty good , but not worth the effort of getting there really.. The Canyon Blaster is a good ride but the only thing to do in the Adventuredome if you are above the age of about 6. just get a ticket for the roller coaster only if you are there
here are all the Circus Circus Photos in one go :T
you could also shave a few $ by staying off strip or downtown , but it's not really worth it and we always recommend you stay ON the strip if it's your 1st time
any futher help needed let us knowBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

With all your help i have managed to find some cheap hotels for the boys:
£108 Circus Circus
£137 Imperal Palace
£139 Excalibur
These prices are for 2 for 4 nights (17th to 21st November).
We have been before and stayed at the MGM and Strats, but this time the other half is going with one of his mates on a lads trip, so cheap is the only option!!
Again many thanks for all your help, really appreciate it!

restaurant.com are running a 3-day sale (50% off dining certificates). It's quite unusual for them to do so this early in the month so it may be that some certificates that are normally sold out by the time the sales start each month will be available now.
if anyone is interested the code is FUTURE which is entered at check-out.
Really good deals, some of these...things like a $25 certificate for $5...many of the restaurants are off-strip, but some are on-strip.
I tried to register my UK address, but it will not recognise a UK postcode.
Anyone been able to bypass this?0 -
I think I am going to go goooogly eyed  I have been reading through this thread and searching all over the net for a GOOD deal to go to vegas in march 08.
Part of my problem is that I live in Inverness and so I have the choice of either paying an extra £200+ for flights from london/manchester or driving 4 hours to glasgow (not sure which is the better option to be honest)
Can I ask,
i think I should I be booking flights + hotel separately , for the best prices?!(the links to some of the hotels come up in $ , so that is A LOT cheaper than uk prices (if that doesnt sound stupid) Are there extra charges for booking in $ from the UK?
Can anyone recommend a CHEAP flights only site?
Thanks in advance.... I'll continue reading lol :shocked:pinkpinkfizz

Hiya - just put in anything - 00000, the first 5 letters (no spaces) of your postcode...either has worked in the past for me and others.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

The only extra charges would be those levied by your credit card company...so worth checking with them to see what they charge for overseas transactions or do what was suggested earlier in this thread and open a Post Office credit card - no charges, and bank rate of exchange. We did this on the advice given here and it's great - ordered something on a US site last week and got a rate of 2.015 with no fees. and there's £20.50 quidco to be had for going through www.quidco.com to start the registration process (something else that was pointed out earlier in this thread and I appreciated greatly).
Keep in mind that it's early for the really good hotel rates for March 2008 so probably best to have a look around, and take some notes and keep an eye on them for a few months to see if you can do better. That said, depending on when you will be there in March, there's March Madness (basketball tournament time) and a lot of spring breakers so it can be really busy. If you find a hotel rate you are happy with - can always book now (they will take 1-night deposit in most cases) and then stalk rates for the next several months...if you find something better, cancel and rebook.
We always book with Virgin so can't give much help on the cheap flight sites but I'm sure others will steer you in the right direction.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

unfortunatly Las Vegas is not Florida or New York, where you can get direct flights from pretty much all over the UK.
here is good link about what goes from where . though does not cover every airline as My Travel are not listed for example !!
http://www.visitlasvegas.co.uk/travel_prof/airlines.htm
MY TRAVEL only have a small summer service (june and July at present) out of Glasgow which leaves only Manchester and London if you want to fly direct.( though the open skies thing may yet throw a new hat into the ring sometime soon)
if you are not bothered about direct try Dial a flight http://www.dialaflight.com/?gclid=CL-WoKfjrI0CFRMaEAodkFMltQ( you do need to call them though as the web site is not designed to work hand in hand with their service) and Airline network ( click the Las Vegas "best buys" link on their home page !!! http://www.airline-network.co.uk/ ).
personally i would get on the Train fares thread now and get down to Manchester or London the night before than have a 18+ hour flight in one go. don't forget you can do free twilight check ins the night before with Virgin and BMI , which knocks a good few hours off your flight day even if you stay in a hotel at the airport !!! let alone travelling to the airport before the crack of dawn for 3 hours of wait after you check in on the day
as ferf advises sort your flight and don,t sweat about hotels , you will have tons of offers to choose from between now and pretty much the last few days before you leave, and you can of course , cancel 98% of all offers upto about 48-72 hours before your stay for a full refund !!!!!!!!
simple rule of Thumb is $2 to £1 by the way ...(sorry if that is stating something very well known by all) and as ferf says you can actually get that now using Nationwide cc or dc or Post office cc. and within a whisker of it using Travelex price match for currency in the hand.... as before you rounded up a bit to your disadvantage. ALWAYS ALWAYS choose to pay in $ when using your card on any of the USA web sites ect , don,t let them convert to £'s for you as they sting you for it !!!
and MY TRAVEL cheap lates are back :cheesy: :cool2: ( note the date for future ref ....mid July !!!)
flying Tommorow you can get a fabulous price of £178 !!!!!! for 11 nights stay flight only.
but are well over £400 for coming saturday and next wednesday.
how strong is your nerve to leave a planned booking this late though!!!Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0
