    Hiya,

Sorry if this has been asked before but reading through 41 pages would make my eyes go square!! :p

My boyfriend and I want to go to Las Vegas for a few nights from August 5th 2007 ... joint celebration of my 21st and his 30th (yeah yeah, age gap I know lol) ... we thought we'd depart Sunday 5th August and return on Wednesday 8th or Thursday 9th.

I'd like to stay somewhere pretty central and (if possible!) a bit luxurious as it's a special occasion. I've found a deal on www.lastminute.com at £844.20 per person (total of £1688.40) to stay at the Luxor ... flights & accomm., room only. This is a bit more than I really wanted to spend ... we were hoping to be able to do the whole thing (inc. spending money) for 2k (that's the price for us both I mean!).

Anyone up for a challenge? Pretty please lol, any help appreciated!

    Cheers :)
If you want central, I wouldn't do NYNY or the Luxor - they are both at the end of the strip. However, if you get a good deal there are trolly buses that run up and down the strip all day until about 1 am in the morning. More Central you have Paris, Circus Circus (although as this is very child friendly would give it a miss if you dont like small people!!) Wynn ( normally this is a bit on the high side but you can get good late bookings. Another one pretty cetral is Planet Hollywood.
Flights? If you want to make it extra special - see what Maxjet are doing a return for at the moment. We were in Vegas during May and got a return flight on Maxjet to Stanstead for about £600 - Business class all the way from the sparkling in the air side lounge to the flight - can't recommend it highly enough!!
    Have a great time

Thanks. I didn't think MGM, NYNY were at the bottom on the strip, although I stayed in Ceasars last time, so it was very central. I agree about Luxor. I did think this one was too out of the way.
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!

For a nice hotel, decent rates and central location look into Bally's...we love it there though it's not as flashy as some of the others nearby it is connected to Paris (and typically cheaper).

Last I read was sometime in July, but these things do seem to shift along sometimes. if anyone were considering NF I would first confirm that the hotel itself is taking bookings for the period...if the hotel isn't booking beyond a certain date, booking with a 3rd party might be worth avoiding.

God no I wouldn't want to stay there I've heard it's infested.
Just thought I's mention it as if Travelworm are still offering it as an option for Oct/Nov then maybe they are not quite up to date....therefore how reliable is it as a site.....but then again if you are only using the prices that come up to ensure a price match I don't suppose it really matters how accurate they are.

    Yet another question.
I've just discovered that there is a Remote Hotel check in desk at terminal one.If I were to get Flamingo for my first week then am I right in thinking I can check in here and then go straight to my room when I get there.
Will I be able to negotiate the type of room I want ie 2 doubles non smoking.
Would I also be able to wangle the $20 trick from here or can that only be done at the hotel itself.....

Circus circus and "central" are two items I've never seen put together before but with the Stardust now demolished there's even less chance of making the mistake of calling in there. Even the Wynn is getting close to being too far away from the main central area now.

I like what they've done to PH and those who got the great deals earlier in the year have got a bargain in my view. Glad to see the Spice Market still as good as ever.

Got really lucky and managed to avoid 99.9% of the football shirt wearing, tattoo flaunting, lobster coloured Brits (except for the MyTravel flight which was like being in Blackpool on a Friday night).

Yet again meant to call into the IP to see if it would do at a pinch if orices elsewhere were OTT, but its so far back from the strip we always get to the point where we can't be bothered!

Got sick and tired of all the salesmen trying to flog us an apartment though a lot of freebies to be had if you put up with a couple of hours of sales pitch. (MGM Residences, City Centre and PH were the worst culprits)

You can use the airport check in and if your room is ready, they will give you the keys then and there. However, if your room is not ready, then you will have to collect your keys at the desk at the hotel (the airport check-in will assign you the room, but the keys themselves will not be issued). So depending on what time your flight will arrive you may have better or worse luck. Some have said that the $20 trick at the airport check-in works, others have said they had no luck.

As for the type of room - again depending on when you arrive they may a) have what you want available immediately, b) have what you want but it's being cleaned and you'll have to wait for it (they will usually give you an idea how long the wait will be) or accept an alternate room or c) not have what you want at all that night but may be willing to move you to another room the next day...I don't think it makes a difference where you check in as to getting your room preferences because with most rooms.

Our flight lands in Vegas at 13.40 so by the time we go though all the rigmarole and collect our bags I would imagine a room should be available.....
I'm just wondering if I could check in at the remote then maybe I could pull a fast one and book my teenager in as a child or not book her in at all.
Someone told me just to make the original booking for 2 adults and then just ask for her to be in with us when we get there.....they will sometimes waive the extra person that way........any thoughts on that

Sorry to be a bit thick, but I'm getting a bit confused about locations on the strip. Basically the wife and I would like somewhere central, as we've never been before, and that is reasonably priced and clean. Where would you experts recommend? Many thanks!
