Right I've tries Priceline several times and my bid is obviously to low for them to accept.I've increased it every time but they are still not having it.
I'm going to leave it for a while as I'm putting in bids that are not far off the offer price as it stands now and I'm still not getting it accepted.

    What about Quikbook.......anyone used them
Their prices are coming out quite reasonable for some hotels.

Haven't used them, but if you find rates you are happy with - check if the hotel has a best rate guarantee...that way you can book direct with the hotel and get the rate you've seen elsewhere.

One other I have seen good rates on before (haven't checked recently, though)

    http://www.i4vegas.com/Search/

And I think it has been mentioned here before - but you can try downloading travelaxe at https://www.travelaxe.com - it searches a lot of 3rd party sites at the same time...my concern with travelaxe is that sometimes what is displayed on the travelaxe screen does not match what comes up on the 3rd party website when you click through to it which is annoying.

But may be some deals to be found.

Still think that booking direct with the hotel is usually the best, but you never know what you might find.

As for Priceline, as you are going at a fairly expensive time, it likely means they aren't expecting to have many spare rooms available - so unlikely that they will discount much, I wouldn't think.

    Hey peeps,

I'm looking at taking the wife to vegas on the 13th July for a week when I get back from Afghanistan and we've never been before so it's all a bit new to me and I've got a couple of questions if possible.

I was looking at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino - has anybody stayed there, whats it like any good?

Is a price of $734 for 7 nights with a strip view any good?

Any other top tips for a newbie?

    Many thanks folks.

    Hi guys!!

Sorry...this is a really basic question, and I'm not being lazy but 41 pages is a lot to trawl through!!

Anyway...I'm off to Vegas Wednesday week, lucky me, and was just wondering if people find it is acceptable to use a photo driving licence as ID for getting into bars, spending travellers cheques etc...etc...!!!??

    Any advice appreciated!!

    Thanks

You can probably get Excalibur a bit cheaper using this link:

    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=EXC&host=promo&code=castle&kbid=374305

    or this one

    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=EXC&host=promo&code=XSTAY1&kbid=374305

both have some extras with them so worth looking at both to see which is the better deal for you.

We've stayed at Excalibur several times...it's not particularly posh, and there may be a lot of kids around - but it's clean and perfectly acceptable if you are on a bit of a budget.

Maybe consider Harrah's as well - they have some decent rates for that period:

    https://www.harrahs.com/AvailabilityCalendar.do?propCode=LAS&showHotDeal=Y&startingMonth=2007-06-01

Centre(ish) Strip location might be better and less kids...rooms are a bit on the small side, though...at least ours was...but overall nicer than Excalibur - though some of the Excalibur rooms have recently been refurbished.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

forgot to mention, in case it's an issue - there are only showers in the Excalibur rooms - no bath...they're nice big walk-in showers, but some people can't live without a bath. :)

Also, wherever you decide to stay, may be worth mentioning to the check-in person that you have been in Afghanistan and this is the first trip with your wife since you got back...if it's not a busy time the check-in clerk may find you an upgraded room at no additional charge if he or she can...I know I would if it were me!

    Thanks again Ferf1223
I have Travelaxe already in my favorites and it's not coming out cheaper than Quikbook.
Unfortunately their website was down earlier so I couldn't re-check but NY NY ,Luxor and Tropicana are all coming out with decent prices. Also according to this site under 18's can stay free at Luxor and NY NY providing they don't require additional bedding
I'm going to get a definate price and them contact those 2 hotels to see if they will pricematch

Lorraine - for most you have to book with the hotel first at their rates...then fill out a request for the best rate guarantee and submit it with a screen shot of the competitors price...some will do it by phone with the person on the other end looking up the website.

    Luxors is here:

    http://www.luxor.com/promotions/promotions_bestrate.aspx

    Trop is here:

    http://www.tropicanalv.com/accom_lowest_rates_online.asp

    Can't find NYNY

Ok thanks That's what I'll do

Should I wait a while longer do you think for the Oct promotions to come out or just book now and then ask for the price to be changed if they come out cheaper at a later date
