she is 16 but looks 18 with make up so we are very likely to get challenged if I try to pull a fast one.
Some of the hotels do have the option to book in a child and when you click 1 child they have a pop up to ask the age.....almost always the age goes up to 17.
    Excalibur child ages are 12.
A lot of hotels just state guests per room they don't ask if you have children staying with you so you have to put in 3 adults..I have e-mailed all the hotels I'm interested in to ask them to quote me a price first for week 1 and then week 2. I'll work out from my feedback which ones I'll go for .

Yes I know the hotel websites are like this when it comes to children because I have a now 12 year old, who comes with us.

On sites where you have to put 3 adults in I have always rung the hotel direct, and got my son for no additional charge but realise this is different for you because of the age difference. In fact I nearly always ring them anyway. Just incase you didnt know there are lots of prefix phone number companies that make it cheaper to dial the USA than a call home. I usually pay 1p per minute.

My son will be 13 next time but I am still hoping not to pay for him anywhere, he is quite small, so he is only 10 when we go to the buffets (half or reduced price)

Thanks photome...okay now the plans have changed thanks to my darling hubbie. We are now going to go for 1 month only in August. Doesn't matter too much what date we go or get back. Can anyone come up with me a decent rate. If I can go maxjet for that little...I will book it

Ka does sometimes appear at the 1/2 price ticket booths (at least at tix4tonight - which is not the one at the Coke bottle), but it's not always available and when it is, it's 20% off - not 50% off...if you have your heart set on it, I would book in advance through the MGM website.

I doubt you will get a great fare on MaxJet for August...if you go to lastminute.com they have a my dates are flexible option so you can see a range of date options (looks like about £450-£500 on BA most combinations in August which would require a connection is the cheapest right now). Virgin's site is down so not sure there but would expect that they would be £600+ unless you can get a miles+money fare.

That BA fare actually seems fairly reasonable to me for August booking now...perhaps check BA's site directly as well as sometimes it's cheaper than a 3rd party.

I will ring to make my booking when the prices eventually come down and I'll ask when I book
    Not holding my breath tho.
It is wrong though if you have a room with 2 queen beds what diff does it make if there is a 3rd adult in there or a child....it's still got 3 people in it .The price should be the same not $250 more

Some would say to book for 2 people and have your daughter wait away from the check-in desk for you to check in - the argument goes around quite a lot with some saying that it's dishonest and others saying what does it hurt...personally, I don't advocate it as I always fear getting caught doing something I shouldn't do and what would happen if I did, but plenty of people regularly book rooms for 2 when they have 3 or 4 adults staying.

I think the reason for the lower rates at some hotels for children is to entice families to stay there - if they can stay at one hotel cheaper than another because the child rate is less or the age cut off is higher, it makes it more appealing for families. Some hotels actively discourage children staying (i.e. Wynn not allowing pushchairs) and as you say, many do not even have child rates at all.

You'd think then that the Excalibur would have a cut off age of 16 or so rather than 12 wouldn't you.
Never mind it will all work out eventually.By the way I still haven't heard from Flamingo re rates
