i wouldn,t risk a laptop to be honest ( they are well known for after sales problems) , but a digital camera might be a winner.

only trouble will be removing all the packaging and leads ect because of the import duty. although that said i read somewhere that Digital cameras were exempt ( but i cannot find anything on google about it).

thats said i have been looking at a new camera for a while and purchased the one i have had my eye on for ages in Argos yesterday for £149

Yes, exempt from import tax but sadly not from VAT.

ok I found it now.....it says based on 2 people sharing and they can't guarrantee I'll get 2 queens so we could end up 3 in a bed and I don't think our Hannah would be impressed......that's out then

Most hotels won't guarantee 2 queens even booking direct - most bed configurations (and smoking/non-smoking rooms) are requested preferences and not guaranteed...but most hotels seem to have more 2 queen rooms than 1 king room as it's easier to accomodate more potential combinations of guests...we've been stuck in a 2 queen room before even though we prefer a king.

    http://biddingfortravel.com/

has all kinds of info on Priceline. Personally, I prefer to know what hotel we will be staying at and from what I have read before, the only way you can narrow it down as far as 2 in Vegas is to go for 5* on the strip as only Venetian and Bellagio are options that have been seen before in that category.

Here's the list of known hotels by star rating (last updated in February):

Re camera and laptop. Thanks for the advice I think I will leave the laptop there are some quite good deals about at the moment so I'll prob get one in the uk
I will have a look at the digi cameras there but I'll price up the ones I'm interested in before I go so I'll have a better idea of the price etc.

As far as bidding for hotels goes I think I'll leave it unless I can guarrantee I'm going to get a strip location it's not worth the bother

I have it saved in my favorites. Not coming out any cheaper than most of the others at the moment.OH is beginning to panic as we have no hotel booked yet but I'm holding out a while longer. My budget for 3 of us for 2 weeks is £1000.....at the moment it's coming out at a little over that so as soon as it drops below my price range I'll book the Luxor and 1 other then I'll have something booked if only to stop him moaning.

I'll just continue to monitor the prices then right up till our departure date to see if I can get a better deal

tell your OH to relax , with a budget of $1000 a week your not going to end up in a bad hotel or not on the strip due to either budget or availbilty .

look at the available deals on https://www.vegas-promotions.com October and Nov have have 8-9 deals currently available where as June and July have 29-35 with loads of different options.

As trets says tell him to relax! Has he read this thread?

I wish I had a budget of $2000 for 2 weeks, You should definitely get two hotels on the strip with that budget. I am guessing the deals will be out in July/August for your dates

I'm holding on .I've been told that the prices will deffo come down for the weeks I want .From those offers 2 of them were based on 2 adults sharing so were no good for me.2 or 3 were in the Excalibur which we have decided to avoid as it's Halloween while we are there.Luxor MVP is pricing up at $1337 so has a way to come down.
Aiming to go for Flamingo for the first week and that's at $1613 for 3 adults

Anyone know what age Harrahs consider you to be an adult. Some of the hotels have the option to put the age in for a child up to 17 and it makes one hell of a difference to the price if you book for 2 adults and a child as opposed to 3 adults.
Flamingo would then be $250 cheaper if she was classed as a child

It seems like I read somewhere that it's lower - but I may be completely wrong there...but I would email Harrah's customer service and ask thequestion ...I think the link for their help is here:

    https://harrahs.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/harrahs.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php

and there's an option to email them - the second tab, then it's down toward the bottom. When we have done so they have gotten back to us very quickly. It does sound like a very big difference and worth asking if no one here can answer you...although, I would perhaps argue that if the website does not give any restriction, then a child would be anyone who is not yet an adult and so anyone under 18...whether that argument would fly with a check-in agent having a bad day, I am not sure! Not sure how closely they check these things, either.
