Thanks for the kind comments, best wishes and advice.

We've heard nothing but good reports about San Francisco as well so really looking forward to it. Also going to do a wine tour one day as we both enjoy a wee glass of vino :-) ...magic.

I'll defo post back and let you all know how US Airways via Philli goes as well as how we get on in SF, LV etc.

Good luck to those hunting for flights at the moment.

    Another question
God your all going to be sick of me and all my requests but here goes anyway.

Priceline.com.....this name your own price thingy they have.
    Anyone used it??
you can only use the option of strip vicinity so how far away do you think you are likely to be??
I chose 5* luxury paying 100$ per room per night but they don't ask you how many will be in that room so are these prices based on 1 person .
There is no mention of per person only per room

Just make sure the charger says something like 110v/240v, that way it will work here also. Digital cameras are the same, just check to see if it is 240v.

Generally yes, will be much cheaper in the US and possibly a better model, too - and as Phill said, need to be sure that the charger has the correct voltage options - I think most do anymore, but worth checking...one thing to consider, though, is the warranty...you may have trouble claiming under the warranty in the UK if it was bought in the US...for the camera, it's probably worth the risk...not sure about the laptop...also potential concern when you bring it back into the UK if they stop you at customs as you will surely be over your limit and may get hit with import duty and VAT.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
