I've seen a few sites offering free trips around Vegas.
Are these worth the bother or are they one of those scam trips where they expect you to sit through an hour or so of some hard sell and not leave unless you buy something

mostly will be timeshare presentations which may require more than an hour and some serious hard sell (though in most cases you get the freebies even if you don't buy)...someone on the lasvegastalk board had a horrible experience once - something like 4 hours and the guy getting really nasty and aggressive with her and if memory serves, the presentation was quite far away from the strip so it wasn't like she could just walk out - she had to rely on them for transport back.

Some people do them to get the freebies...many don't think it's worth the aggravation...if you're staying 2 weeks and the freebies are good, you could consider it...but go into it knowing it's likely to be an unpleasant experience and make sure the freebies are worth it to you.

    Recent thread about it here:

These are the same people who will come up to you and ask you things like 'would you folks like tickets to X show?' etc. so be warned that they are all over the place. Many of us have learned if you say 'we're leaving tonight' they will back off...also they will be more likely to approach couples than singles...so hubby and I split up when we approach them and rejoin just past them. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

How old does your daughter look? they wont ask for her passport at check in, so you could be a little dishonest although I think most hotels start charging for a third person over the age of 12.

I have to admit the prices I have been giving to you (for my stays) did not allow for a third person, which would normally be about an extra $30 a night.
  • IF YOU GOT MARRIED IN VEGAS ......... HELP!

I got married a couple of weeks ago in Las Vegas. Whilst we were applying for the licence we were told quite emphatically that the marriage certificate that was supplied by the county and filled out by the chapel was not the legal copy and that we had to send off for a certified copy of the marriage certificate from the Clark County Recorders Office. They gave us a form to do this. The chapel also reminded us to do this.

So ....... we have a marriage certificate. Why isnt it sufficient?

The thing is, you have to send $10 by money order or cheque to the Clark County offices to get this certificate. No credit cards no cash. Fine.... BUT the post office here no longer does international money orders. So I went to the bank. They said they can order us a cheque but it will take a few days AND COST £15!!!! Which I feel a bit grumpy about.

!. Do I need to get the certified copy, or is the original certificate good enough?

    2. Is there a cheaper way to send $10. The form quite clearly says no cash. There is no facility for credit card payment.

she is 16 but looks 18 with make up so we are very likely to get challenged if I try to pull a fast one.
Some of the hotels do have the option to book in a child and when you click 1 child they have a pop up to ask the age.....almost always the age goes up to 17.
    Excalibur child ages are 12.
A lot of hotels just state guests per room they don't ask if you have children staying with you so you have to put in 3 adults..I have e-mailed all the hotels I'm interested in to ask them to quote me a price first for week 1 and then week 2. I'll work out from my feedback which ones I'll go for .

It isn't much of a hassle to get the "official" copy, you just send the form off that you were given to the address on the back along with a $10 money order. They should have informed you that you can get money orders from virtually any casino. The person behind the counter even told us how to fill it in!!
You need the official copy so that it is registered, but you don't need it, necessarily, to change your name here, at least my OH didn't.

Is there a cheaper way....yes, get it while you were there, or if you know someone going, they could get you one, otherwise, pay up the £15. Afterall, it isn't that much compared to what a wedding in this country would have cost you.

    Wish we had known this!

    Hi there
I got married at the Bellagio in Las Vegas last year and had the same problem. However, I rung the Clark County Office and they told me it was fine for me to send the cash, which I did. They said it was a common problem with internationals and it would be ok. They sent the certified copy back really quick too. Maybe worth a phone call just to check it hasn't changed, but it was fine last June.
