    Hi All
Been back a few days now and recovered!!!!!
Reading some of the new posts on here i thought i would give my opinion (sorry trets no deals to post up).

    Planet Hollywood was excellent!!
Room was fantastic though did get free upgrade to a resort room.If you can get a deal to stay here , my rate was 59bucks a night, then do it.
Casino is lovely , heart bar at night is cool (with lovely podium dancers as well) and though we only tried it twice the spice buffet was really good.Voted best in vegas 2007.Location is the best, strip central.Only real drawback was not enough variation in dining in the PH.Though the desert passage next door has a few places.

Venetian was again amazing though did find the bell boys etc snotty , seemed to expect like a 50bucks tip. We`re not all milloinaires who stay there y`know.
Stratosphere - i like it.Yes it is too far up the strip but you can get the bus (deuce) for 5bucks all day pass right outside the strat which takes you all the way from freemont st down to the las vegas outlets way south of the strip.... but the casino and everything feels newish and some good entertainment to be had there.Though the rooms i found to be very noisy ie thin walls. We woke up one morning to a blazin row next door and through the course of the row it turned out it was there wedding day!!!
The pool and fitness centre was better than the pool at the PH.

Personally one week is enough in Vegas for me, after that unless you just want to gamble all the time it all blends into one big blur. (and i am a poker player)

I have some amazing photos to match yours trets and photome but cant get them on the damn PC...
thanks all you guys for hunting down the deals and helping people , like me , to have a top time for a good price.
    Cheers :T :T

Welcome back, glad you had a good time, hope to see some pics soon.

I also like the stratosphere. it is one of my favoutite places to gamble as they have a single zero roullette wheel.

I have also had the resort room upgrade at the Alladdin (as was) and I have to say it is prob the best room i have ever had in Vegas, but I havent stayed at the real upscale hotels. They have a great bathroom and a fantastic view of the fountains.

Post Office Card is a absoulte doddle to sort out . do the entire application online in one go , my "ready to activate card" arrived through the letterbox within 5 days when i did.

Hey Trets - did you have to do anything more than the online application? Did they require you to bring ID into a post office or anything like that?

We already have the Nationwide card as our debit card, but having a credit card that didn't screw us on exchange rates and fees might be something we would look into...but tend to be a bit lazy (and already have 2 credit cards, don't really want/need more but to save some cash, might consider it!)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Same here - I have 3, 2 personal a corporate one. Carrying 4 is a bit much but I suppose it would save me money. Might get OH to take one out instead :)

    Hi All

I'm ready to book the Las Vegas portion of my trip to America in August/September.
I'm getting flights from Philadelphia to Las Vegas with expedia (cheaper than going direct to US Airways)and want to stay at the Mirage. (26th Aug for 6 nights).
Booking direct with the Mirage comes out at £508 altho I only have to pay a deposit of £72 today, making a total of £868.
But if I book the Mirage and flights with Expedia together it is £806...I can get about £20 back through quidco too. BUT, I have to pay this upfront in total.
Also, I've heard stories that hotels treat you less favourably if you've booked through a website like expedia instead of direct....is this true ? Was hopeing to try for an upgrade via $20 trick as its out anniversary.

Any thoughts on which would be best to do - tghis is the first time I've been to America and want to do it as cheaply but as easily as poss !
    Thanks

We chose the Mirage cos we wanted a hotel with a good pool - plan on doing a couple of days relaxing as well as the usual manic Las Vegas stuff !
We considered Mandalay Bay cos thats a great pool too but its right at the bottom of the stip and its slightly more expensive than Mirage.
If anyone can reccomend a hotel with a good pool we'd consider that.

Yes thanks Kezza25 - thats the link I based my calculations on already - by the time you add the tax and convert to GBP you get £508 for the room for 6 nights.
