Can anyone give me any reviews on the Tuscany Suites at Vegas. I know they are off strip located about 2 blocks away. Read a mix of good and ok ish. Taking hubby out for 30th but cant really afford strip hotels unless mega deals are on. (nov 08). Any reviews would be appreciated.
Dont know about Tuscany suite but what is your budget, You can get strip hotels very cheap if you keep looking at fatwallet and lasvegastalk etc.0 -
Trets you are right about the stretch hummer making sense. Limos are barely noticeable over there, but here well ???????!!!!!!!!!0

Were flying from Glasgow for 7 nights. Depature date 20th july or any other date upto the 30th August.
Do you think we got a good price?
I had a quick look and like Trets said, based on your dates and departure airport, flights are quite expensive....so the Plaza package might be a good deal...the Plaza is downtown so you will probably want to look into travel options to get to the Strip (bus is cheap, but takes forever)...depending on how many of you there are, a taxi may be your best bet but may add up...I normally think that first timers should stay on the Strip but with flights being so expensive, staying downtown may be justifiable.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Any good flight deals kicking around leaving the UK on 17th September back maybe 1st October?
£456 i(manchester 16th - 30th sept ) currently available with mytravel for Vegas only. , but if you use WYDW's , method as desricbed in posts #38 and #310 you will probably find that dropping nearer the time, but you do need to keep a close eye on it like he advises . i assume the kids are back at school then ?? ( sorry but i left school a long time agoand cannot remember ) .
if you are doing a arrive in SF leave from Vegas flight package..Virgin currently have a sale on that might be a good route to go down. ends APRIL 25TH though !!!
http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/specialoffers/specialofferstotheusineconomy.jsp
arriving in SF on 17th sept and departing 1st Oct from LV is £480 each ...personally i think that sounds pretty reasonable for direct Virgin flights. having differnet airports may see you get stuck if you chance a late booking
try https://www.sidestep.com for a flight between SF and LV.
$84 ( about £45 !!) each available for a one way on 24th Sept with some Low cost carrier called "Frontier "
Luxor... divides opinion judging from prev posts on it. personally i found the casino a bit 90's showcase multi screen cinema ish, but i loved the poker room for not being to "high class/posh " for the likes of me to play in without feeling like i was too small fry to grace the place ( like the Venetian poker room for example ) .
if i was you don't get to hung up on it, i think everyone will agree there are better places and much worse places on the strip to stay. get your flights and then see what deals are about booking direct with casino and go from there if i was you.Honeymoon on its own might get you an upgrade, honeymoon plus $20 will almost certainly get you a very good upgradeBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

I m looking at bout 800 for 2 inc flights. I can get discount on some flights as hubby is military so i reckon I will have about 150/200 ish for accom, hoping to be stopping 4 nights.
As for that fat wallet site I have no idea how to use it, Its not exactly idiot friendly!!0 -

Thanks trets, those links are fab.
Can I just bug you with another question.
On the vegas message board where it shows you the forum for deals at Hotels,if you click into say the MGM deal and you go to the reservation the currency is US $ ($ per room per night). Do I book with the dollar as my currency or do I get them to convert to the GBP.
Thank you0 -
this where a Nationwide or Post Office Credit card really earns it corn. as you won't get either a Currency conversion charge ( un itemised and hidden on your statment) or a foreign transaction fee ( anything upto £1.75 per transaction) whatever you do.
i Have both and personally prefer the Post Office card as it can be applied for totally online, i got my card within 5 days , i got a decent limit on it, and it has better customer service with regards to time took to answer the phone
Nationwide, took 4 weeks to come, crappy limit, and i spent a hour ( thats correct a HOUR!!!!) on the phone just to activate it.
you also need a credit card at check in which ever hotel you stay in as a rule. futher info links for applying for both are in this link to main site's
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1106765397,71685,
you should always pay in the currency of the country you are buying in i believe , otherwise they convert into say pounds at a rate that benefits them. if your card provider does it after you have payed in $$$ they use a standard rate.....
here is Martins quote from above linkAlways try to pay in the overseas currency not in Pounds.
There's a growing trend when spending abroad for the retailer to do the conversion to Pounds itself, giving you a poor exchange rate you've no control over. Always check that you won't be charged in pounds. That way, assuming you're using one of the top cards, you'll get the best exchange rate possible.
P.S one futher tip, before you leave on holiday , call the card company up and tell them your planning on using it where you are going ...other wise anti fraud protection may block it as suspicious when you are over thereBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

WOOOOHHH I didnt realise you were talking about Nov 2008 as trets says it is to early for deals for nov this year never mind next, the best time for deals ( I have found ) is between 12 and 8 weeks up to departure.
But on todays prices and deals £150/£200 equates to about $300/$400 dollars which would get you 4 nights in a few strip hotels with money to spare
I see trets has given you some links and i can only reiterate what he says about getting a Post Office credit card and pay in the local currency.0 -
Thanks for the replies folks
Had thought about going to SF first then drive down towards LA ..... highway 1 ?.... then cut over to LV. Sounds like that might be a hectic end to the honeymoon then if LV is intense
Think my mate goes outwith the Luxor for his gambling..just stays there cause its reasonable, handy etc. Think he prefers some downtown places for lower limits, less experience required etc.
I quite fancy the Mandalay Bay but found a few forums/list of conventions and that seems to be a popular place for them so might be busy for rooms etc. G/f's friend has said the Bellagio was ace on her honeymoon and is heading there again next February.
I've looked at flights from Glasgow (closest to us) but had thought of maybe flying to Manchester/London to get a better choice/deal.
Have read about the $20 in between credit card & ID so hoping that plus the 'we're on our honeymoon' look might swing us a free upgrade or bottle of champers etc.
Might take you up on the PM offer Andy ...(i remember looking at the MGM site.... some nice suites but not sure i'd splash out for one with my own butler :rotfl: )
Thanks again...
