I wonder if anyone can suggest how I could cancel my BMI flights without losing my cash. They have contacted me to say that my return flight is changing in that it is being brought forward by an hour, Now this in itself is no huge issue, however they have also changed our seating arrangement, Previously we had seats booked at the emergency exits, however we have been moved to the very back of the plane.

Now TBH the main reason that we want to cancel is that we have unexpectedly moved house after booking the flights in july and really think we may struggle to have enough disposable cash to pay for accomodation and have our spending money. We are getting a phone call this afternoon, to discuss our new flights - can anyone see a get out clause ?

Alternatively, We got the flights pretty inexpensively, (£732 for both) does anyone know BMI's policy on transferring the flights to someone else.

    Thanks in advance

Also, does anyone know the name of the italian restaurant above the Fashion Show Mall?? We had a lovely dinner there last time and i'd like to go there for xmas dinner.
It's called Maggiano's. We had a meal there a couple of trips ago and weren't impressed. My pasta was bland and tasteless, but even the ha;f portion was enormous.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but I am just trying to catch up since coming back from Vegas.

My first new post is on Page 44 and there are now 93 pages!! What have you lot been yacking about!?!?!

    hi all

am off to vegas with my mum in 3 weeks time:j - and have so far taken lots of advice from this forum......

i'm trying not to book anything in advance if i don't have to and wonder whether anyone has bought phantom tickets (venetian) from the half-price ticket booths? any idea of what the lowest prices might be for good seats?

has anyone seen it and can let me know what they thought of the different seating areas or anything else etc?

    many thanks
You can get Phantom tickets at the Half Price ticket places, but they're not half off, it's more like $30-40 which is better than nothing and usually for the second cheapest seats.

We saw it in May. Well at least hubby did as I dozed off due to jetlag and being in the dark. Hubby thought it was fantastic even though he didn't think much of the version he saw in the UK.

Anyone got any feedback from BMI flights direct to Vegas?
Just back on Friday from our 3rd non-stop flight with bmi from Manchester. They are quite good. Seat pitch is 31", configuration is 2 seats at each side and 4 or 5 in the middle. All alcoholic drinks are payable, £3 for spirits, soft drinks are free.

They serve dinner a couple of hours into the flight and a sandwich/tea a couple of hours before landing. Dinner coming back was a choice of cottage pie, chicken curry or egg noodles with mushroom sauce.

A good selection of films on the seatback TV's, not on demand, but in a loop. Free earphones.

What happened there? Went from 93 pages to 48 in one fell swoop.

Anyway, just got back from Vegas on Friday morning. Flew direct with bmi after a connection from Aberdeen. Flights on time both ways. Got to use the lounges at both airports with being a Silver Diamond Club member, but wouldn't pay for it just to get a cup of coffee and a biscuit. Didn't have time to do any serious damage to the alcohol.

Stayed at the Imperial Palace for 3 nights in a deluxe room. Basic, but clean and comfortable. We like to stay there over a weekend when the rates are sky high elsewhere.

Stayed at the Bellagio for one night. Very nice indeed and didn't feel stuffy at all. Turn down service was a nice touch and we got a lakeview room for a $20 tip. Ate at the buffet for breakfast which was lovely with fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.

You can buy at refillable mug at Cafe Gelato for $6.50 and get free refills of regular coffee and soft drinks.

Stayed 3 nights at Planet Hollywood. A $20 tip at check in scored us a remodelled resort vista with a view of the Bellagio fountains. Jackpot! Brand new bed, furnishings and linens. Very nice indeed.

Ate at loads of places, but the best were steaks at Planet Dailies and Mon Ami Gabi. Used loads of coupons from the American Casino Guide.

Used my Nationwide FlexAccount card to withdraw cash from the ATM's at a rate of $2.085-$2.103 and got the same rate on purchases with the N/W credit card.

Shopped till we dropped (and I normally HATE shopping). Hubby's shirts were 50% off with a ticket saying to take another 25% off and we got an additional 11% off with the Macy's discount card. It was like buy one get two free!

Got lots of lovely clothes for the cruise next year at a fraction of what they would have cost here for the same thing.

Saw Legends in Concert which was very good. Went to Spamalot, but didn't see much of it as I dozed off with the jetlag and the dark. The theatre was freezing. Won tickets to Stomp Out Loud TWICE at the daily slot pull and daily slot tournament at PH. We were too tired after a mega day's shopping to go the first night we booked for so when I won tickets again the following day we thought someone was trying to tell us something and booked again. I slept through it the last time we went, and for a bit of it this time, but what I saw was quite good.

That was our 7th trip to Vegas and last night I booked our 8th when I booked flights for April for 12 nights on the bmi site. Non-stop flights with a connection from Aberdeen for £466 which I'm delighted with. Called up bmi for a price and on the phone they quoted £557 for the same flights.

    Any questions, please ask.

Thanks Photome, The girl phoned back yesterday and agreed to cancel them due to the change in itinerary. Now we are not going back in february :(.

We couldn't really afford it though and we have been twice in the last year. Just depressing us though, however the head has ruled the heart. We might get there later next year, but for now our money is best served getting spent on house renovations - boring or what (although sensible :()

    Thanks all

i think you were lucky there, they would not us change our return flight ( to extend our stay to over Xmas) even when we offered them more money  .

sorry i,m not able to post deals but DHL have lost my laptop . and claim it was signed for by me !!!! , even though i was at work and can prove as much    . to say i,m quite upset by this is a under statment as ACER seem to be saying, we send it to your address and we have a signature ( not mine) you want your laptop back , take it up with the police .

as soon as i get my proper computer back i will be back up and running guys
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Just back earlier this week and wanted to be sure to say thank you to whoever it was that posted the hotels.co.uk deal for Wynn (sorry, I can't remember who it was and I did a search and couldn't see it). £41 something for a panoramic view room was an amazing bargain. Most comfortable bed EVER. Beautiful view. Fantastic night we had there - and we left the hotel with more money than we went in with, AND 6 free buffets on our cards as they were running a promotion for new sign-ups - 25 points = 1 free buffet, 50 points = 2 free buffets. My hubby and I each got 50 points for less than $20 invested in the slots...then my hubby got to 500 points during our stay as he had such good luck there and earned 2 more. We used 2 for dinner and 2 for breakfast with the remaining saved for our trip in March. Awesome. And when we went back to change my hubby's email address, I won $300 while he was waiting in line and a further $200 about 10 minutes later.

So thank you, thank you...that was such a great find and Wynn was by far the kindest casino to us this trip. :)

OK - and one recommendation for anyone who likes steak...try Austin's at Texas Station. If you don't have a car it will be a bit of a taxi ride, yes, but probably worth it. Best steak I have ever had. My husband could cut his filet mignon with the BACK of his knife. And with a $25 restaurant.com voucher cost less than $100 all in. My hubby is convinced that the steaks we had would cost £50+ each in London. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
