Las Vegas 2007 bargain hunt + tips

Not exactly a 'bargain', the flights were £511 each but I seem to remember the same flights were about the £800 mark just a couple of weeks back. It's probably one of the most expensive times of the year so there you go. Couldn't wait for 'last minute' flights as we needed specific dates.
Anyway, we ended up booking through Expedia (I know, I know) because we managed to get the first 3 nights in the Signature for an extra £110 each. I thought that was OK as it only works out at about £73 per night. When we stayed there in May we paid just over £100 a night and that was quite good at the time. We'll have to try and 'blag' an upgrade to a 1 Bed Suite, had one last time and it was great !!
Looks like it is about the same price as booking direct, nights at end of july are $159 weekdays at moment..maybe offers nearer the time0 -

For the 3 nights we are staying it is $542 inc tax direct with the hotel so I think we've had a good deal at £220. You can always wait for offers but I don't remember seeing any deals for the Signature at much less than $159 per night (+ Tax).0 -

Agreed it looks like you have a good deal, most vegas hotels will price match altho I guess it may be to late now.0 -
Hi Carol
The $2.50 off-strip bus pass covers all off-strip bus routes. You have to buy it on one of off-strip buses or from one of the bus terminals. You can also obtain a brochure with map for 25cents which gives details of all routes, bus numbers and times. You can go to Green Valley Ranch, Silverton, the Airport, Outlet Malls etc. using this pass. If you want to use the Duece you pay a 50cent supplement per trip.
If you buy the $5 Duece ticket you can use this on all off-strip buses, but I don't think everyone knows this.
We went to Laughlin and Primm with a company called KeyTours who were very good. I think that if you contact them direct you have to pay a fuel supplement something between $2.5-$7.50, not bad as you get a free lunch anyway. Mytravel paid our supplement for us, so our trips were entirely free.
A final comment I'd like to make is that I read many comments on here regarding Mytravel. We travelled with them, the flight was very good as we had paid extra (£70) for extra legroom and could fully strech our legs. I always check whether I could have booked the holiday cheaper myself and I couldn't come near their price.
We have been to Vegas several times and always enjoyed it. However this time we felt that they are spoiling the strip with too much building work. The 'City within a City' site next door to the Bellagio is IMO an eyesore and the area from Circus Circus to the Forum Shops is just a huge demolision site.
We use to like visiting the small casinos such as Westward Ho, Stardust and New Frontier and were sad to see them gone/closed.
Vegas is still a great place so to anyone going 'enjoy yourselves'.

They have to be better than MyTravel? Anyone got any feedback from BMI flights direct to Vegas?
Cannot wait - I am excited already - only 7.5 months to go - lol
(Just hope my other half qualifies online to play in the main event now!!!!!!!)
Steff
will let you know in a little over 5 weeks  :j
you can pre book your seats now i believe ( i did when i booked mine way back) . try www.seatguru.com for info. as has been said before . being at the front will see you 1st in line for Border Control but you will end up waiting for your bags , so anywhere around the middle is still okay IMO .If it was me, and i was happy with the flight prices I would book it and then keep an eye out for the hotel deals.
At those prices you have over £300 each for a hotel room for a week.
You should be able to get a hotel room midstrip for less than that, ie Paris for around $100 or £50 a night per room.
BUT you are not me ,and at the end of the day you have to do what you and your friends are comfortable with. The deals for may will not be out until around feb time next year
agree with Photome. £407 isn,t a bad price , and you will have to a connection whichever way it pans out. (i.e fly to UK to catch direct flight , or have connection on route in USA) . with £300 each you should find a nice deal , but as Photome says there are no Guarantees , that week might prove to be popular for some reason and you might not make savings.
it,s all about risk ,
are you prepared to wait till Feb time to start booking hotels with the intention of saving some $$$ on a good hotel, with the possibilty of not getting a good deal or staying at your 1st choice casino.
or do you play safe book the prices already quoted and risk seeing the seperates price undercut it around Feb.
me personally (like Photome) i am waiting to see what comes along in deals in April . but i am pretty flexiable with where i will stay.
NEW YORK NEW YORK from $69
from Las Vegas messageboard. stays until feb 21st 2008. expires Nov 15th !!!

On getting cheaper flights to Vegas.
Previously I've always gone with BMI. Twice with one stop and once direct, it was a very good experience on all 3 trips. This year I went with MT(never again) if you don't mind cheap and nasty then MT may be for you although it might not work out that cheap if you have to pay excess baggage.
I'll get to the point, I've just typed in some dates for March and got £360 one stop with BMI using ebookers, on the BMI site the same flight is £480 or more. I've found previously if you book in January with ebookers you get the flight cheaper than at any other time , you have to be careful when you book the prices fluctuate daily in Jan and changing the dates slightly can have a big impact on the price.0 -
