  • Hi!
Im off on the 20th Nov for a week and have been to LV before (2 years ago) but there a few things that we missed out last time and wanted to do this time!
Can anyone tell me how much a cab from Luxor to Freemont St will cost us?
Any recommendations for a nice restaurant along the strip? (Buffets are great but we wanted to treat ourselves one night!)
Need to get some Ugg boots and Benefit make up for xmas pressies, any ideas where I can find these?
Bf wants to watch his team play on the Sat and ive looked at the website for The Crown and Anchor pub off the strip, any good?
Do Virgin do a welcome meeting in LV and if so is it worth attending?

I booked this as a Virgin twin centre hol with LV followed by a week in Cancun (Dont worry, Tesco CC vouchers paid half of this hol!) So if anyone has any tips for Cancun chuck them my way!

I cant wait to go now and we really wanna enjoy ourselves coz this might be our last hols for a while due to home-buying!

    Many thanks in advance!

Glad you have had a great time Floyd , got any candid photos of the Signature ?? would like to see them ;)

Believe it or not, we didn't actually take any pics of the room because it was absolutely identical to those on the website! Spotlessley clean, all the marble surfaces were gleaming and the whirlpool bath was sparkling! The only pic we took was of 7 of us in the shower (fully clothed) because we couldn't believe how huge it was :rotfl:

I would recommend the Grand Lux Cafe in the Venetian hotel. Good menu and service and the food was very tasty !

We really liked the steakhouse inside Paris towards the back.

For a great restaurant consider Mon Ami Gabi at Paris...sitting on the patio across from Bellagio's fountains is amazing.

Here's our video for an idea.

Menu is really reasonble too...but be warned that the frites (as in steak and) are really thin - that annoys some people.

As for Benefit - best place on the strip will likely be Sephora (Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood or at Venetian) ...off strip, there's a Macy's at the Boulevard Mall - and Macy's offers the 11% off card for out of state buyers...they sell Benefit but I'm not sure if you can use the card at the Benefit counter (I am going to try in a week and a half!)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I would vote for Mon Ami Gabi too. We have a table reserved for next Friday night. :D

Unfortunately you can't use the Macy's 11% discount card for fragrances or cosmetics.

Can you tell me the best shopping malls in LV. And where they are? We know of Caesers Palace but was hoping for a mall like premium Mall in Orlando!

Ah, that's too bad...not unexpected though as I wondered if there would be a restriction on the concessions. Thanks for letting me know as it means that I can officially justify a trip to Sephora...my husband will be so pleased. ;) I'm not a really 'girly girl' but I swear to god that the second I walk in that store I want one of pretty much everything and walk out considerably poorer.

this last one is not in Las Vegas at all ( despite it's address) it,s in Primm about 45 mins away . worth a vist though ..i got some cracking bargains here.you can get the bus from The MGM Grand for a pretty cheap price, you will need to ask someone where to catch it though ( it's near the lobby downstairs on the way to the Monorail )

you also have of Fashion show mall ( near TI) , Forum @Caesers , Desert Passage (if it,s still called that  ) at PH , Grand Canal @ Venetian .

not too much for Taxi downtown $20 should be plenty + tip i think as long as he diverts around the strip. get the Duece for $5 ( all day pass) for cheaper option. drops you right at Freemont.

as for Restaurants along the strip , you can only comment on what you have tried and to try all of them would probably mean eating out every night for a year. i intend to try Mon ami gabbi this trip :D but if your heading down town i liked the SteakHouse @ Binions , awesome steak and Fantastic view, just don,t be put off walking through the casino ( it,s hard to find the elevator and the place is not signposted ). i would eat there again but you cannot do that because there are sooooo many others to try .

we also like The Cheesecake Factory in the Forum Mall . Very friendly and open late . plus you can take your dessert home if you cannot manage it after the entrees ect. we also ate in here in Boston and it was quality again,

i,m heading for the following in Dec , of course i haven't yet tried these but they get great reviews.

    Peppermill and fireside lounge
    Joe's Stonecrab
    second street grill
    Isla
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
