Have 3 nights in PH all on comp (means I did my nuts last time i stopped there)Now have had to change my flight details and not returning on Friday 9th Nov as planned but now going to Costa Rica via Houston. As Planet Hollywood wanted 280 for a friday night( I have to find a vegas hotel for a friday night stop ) have opted for South Point Hotel, Some good reviews some not so good ..As I am not intending to go to the strip on the Friday I think $68 for a Friday night is top value, anyone been and have a opinion of the Place ?

I've been to the casino but not the rooms...nice place - massive, new, clean...really bright and airy, but not a great vibe there...they say that people don't like to gamble in wide open spaces - that's why many casinos have something to drop the ceiling level...I remember feeling a bit out of sorts there myself, so maybe some truth to that. It's not been open long enough for the rooms to have become too worn, so for $68 it may well be a perfect place...but it is so very far away from the action. I would worry that I would potentially lose a load of money if I stayed there, because I couldn't just walk out of the casino to another (or to somewhere without any slot machines). :) At least there's a movie theatre there...that might keep me occupied.

    Hi Teahfc

We had a great stay at the Southpoint hotel in July this year and really enjoyed it. The staff were great, check in was fast and rooms were big and very clean (I always worry about dirty rooms but even I was impressed). As Ferf already said there is a cinema and bowling alley and of course a casino. We used the cinema and it was great with a good selection of the latest films. If you are not intending to visit the strip that night then you could do a lot worse than stay at the South Point. We didn't eat there so I can't comment on that but they do have a couple of restuarants. We did use the "Seattle's Best" in the mornings for coffees which was handy for us. I don't think you will be disappointed to stay here for one night. Have a great trip!

Just got back from Vegas and I am shattered!
We stayed at the Signature MGM and it was absolutely incredible, nothing was too much trouble and when I told the check-in staff that we were in town to get married, they put us in the upper penthouse suite with the most amazing views of the strip.

I suppose my one piece of advice would be to wear the oldest most comfortable shoes you own. You can't get away with not walking alot because even though there is a monorail, cabs and buses alot of stuff is deep inside the hotels so you end up walking for miles.

Absolutely loved everything about the place and I am sure we will become frequent visitors. It was topped off by our friend winning $900 at blackjack!

Cabs seemed expensive compared to New York but I guess there is no subway so they have more of a monopoly.

We went to the Gun Store and shot M16's, pump action shot guns, desert eagles and Glock handguns which was great fun and really makes you appreciate how dangerous these things can be on the streets.

We went in lots of different casinos to try them out, Ballys was really nice, we all liked the Sahara because it still has proper quarter slots that pay out in coins rather than giving you a ticket, the Imperial was fun because of the impersonators but it was a bit grubby and the MGM casino was just huge!

From 2 people who don't drink much and rarely gamble there was plenty to do and it has a fabulous atmosphere.

Hi all. Involved in the Priceline/Caesars Palace fiasco last year and did very well out of it staying in the Flamingo and having a few freebies.
Nothing going like the fiasco again is there!
Trying to book for March of 2008 nothing really in the Booking sites as yet all seem to run out at Xmas.
Anyone know of any bargains as yet! Thanks in anticipation

March is a pretty busy month in Vegas so not sure how great the deals will be but would think you would see more in the new year. Some of the Harrahs properties have hot deals out that go to March (Harrahs and Flamingo with Harrahs hot deals being the better of the two), but nothing fantastically awesome.

Try to avoid the 10th to the 15th or so as there's a massive convention in town (135,000 attendees)...check pretty much any hotel's calendar and you'll see that it is having a big impact on room rates for that period.
