Right I've looked into it and providing the enrollment room is open I'm doing it.I'll let you know how long it takes us to get through immigration....however not having been before I'll leave it up to you to tell me if it's quicker or not.

Couple more questions. Are mobile phones cheaper in Vegas.....and can they be used over in UK with say an Orange pay as you go sim??
Are jewelery and watches cheaper there?
Would a digital camera be cheaper also??
Do you know if there any pet shops in any of the malls on vegas strip.....my daughter wants to get toys and a collar for her kitten.....thinking they will have more unusual things there than here.

One of the best places to get cheap and up to date mobile phones is in the UK, the USA are way behind us in handsets and what they do have are way more expensive.

I dont think cameras are cheaper either..dont forget if you buy to much and get caught you may have a big customs bill, I think you are only "allowed" about £140 worth.

Dont know about jewellery and watches.

Clothes are what you can get much cheaper.

There is a reallly swanky pet (may just be dogs) shop in one of the hotel malls, but I cant remember which one, it was so swanky I took a pic.

Just asked my son he says it was in Mandalay bay, but I have just looked at pics and it is called LUsh Puppy so i guess it is just for dogs, I will pm u the pic.

Just tried to pm u the pic but dont seem to be able to, if u want to see it u can pm ur email if u wish, I have hundreds of other pics of vegas if u r interested

We always buy our digital cameras in the US - typically are about 30% less than in the UK for the same model (check amazon.co.uk vs amazon.com for reference)...we're buying one for my in-laws next trip as they want to upgrade from the one we bought them about 4 years ago...of course we would possibly have issues if we had a problem with the camera as the warranty probably would not be good in the UK but so far haven't had any problems of that nature.

Agree that mobile phones are way behind in the US...I got my brother-in-law a SIM card reader as a Christmas present a few years ago - then found out that his phone doesn't HAVE a SIM card.

Jewellery is cheaper and better quality...you normally don't see less than 14K gold in the shops there (except some 9K things for little girls)...I got a pair of diamond earrings a few years ago for 1/2 what I would have paid here I think.

As for why the friend of a friend hated Vegas (I MUST stress that I do not even know this person myself) but my friend went off the idea of going to Vegas because her friend hated it so much...when pressed as to why this friend of a friend hated Vegas so much it came to light that his one goal for his trip was to have sex with a midget...and as he was unable to make arrangements to do so, he decided that Vegas was crap.

Like I said, I don't know the guy...but it just goes to show that some people have weird reasons for hating the place. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Thinking of getting a retina scan at Gatwick for when we go to Vegas in 3 weeks
Anyone had this done.....do you have to pay?Is it quicker to get through immigration if you have it done

Will be interested to see how you get on - we may try to sign up before our flight on 4th November...since I'm American, it could be a massive time savings for me coming back into the UK as the visa holders lines are never open anymore so I get stuck with all the non-EU people and the queues can be so ugly...took me 90 minutes to get through in July AND my husband had my Harry Potter book in his carry on and was found reading it when I finally made it through to baggage reclaim. :) Just wish that they had it for arriving in Vegas as going that way, it's my husband that gets stuck and me who ends up waiting with the bags.

Does anyone have an email address for Mandalay Bay? I want to get a copy of their room service menu and check we can order breakfast in bed on xmas morning. I can only find an address and phone number on the "contact us" section of the website.

If you click on e mail promotions a box pops up and there's an e mail addy near the bottom for Members Services. You could try that.

Photme - couldn't see your pic on page 21 of Bellagio Conservatory but from memory, I think it had the hot air balloons and if I'm right, it was the same display. I'm so jealous of everyone who's still waiting for their trip to come around. I still think about my holiday every day at the minute - I JUST LOVE VEGAS!
And that midget story nearly made me choke of my cup of tea!
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!
