Been reading lots of info on forum and now booked to go in March but havent yet booked Hotels. Decided to take our chances and fly Virgin  . Going from Edinburgh with BA to Gatwick then Virgin - price £435.00ea. Can we wait and book offers with hotel about Jan time or is it best to book now direct with the hotel. 1st time we have booked flights and hotel seperate. We like the look of Ballys, MGM grand, Harrahs and Mirage.

The choice is urs, but i havent booked hotels yet. I am there for 13 nights so will do at least 2 hotels. If you feel the need to book now then make sure you book with the hotel so you can cancel or get them to lower the price if you find it cheaper later on.

I am hoping to find some deals around xmas time, but may book sooner if something comes along.

Of the hotels in your list, I have only stayed at the MGM which is good and from reports on here and www.cheapovegas.com Ballys and Mirage are good to...ferf stays at Ballys...but harrahs is possibly not as good as ur other three.

Does it not at least give you reduced rates? I rarely play on my card (we both play on my husband's) and I qualify for reduced rates.

Looking forward to trying spring in Vegas!

I will check it out but usually says no offers avaialable
  • Thanks photome for info - have now ruled out Harrahs. now only having to look for offers of 3 hotels. Registered with www.vegashotelspecials.com and will book direct with hotel. 6 months to go can't wait - never been to Vegas before - Hopefully the 1st of many trips.

Ours too, but ignore the my offers section...after logging in to Total Rewards click on reservations at the top and put in your dates (max 7 nights for the online system) and see what rates they quote - I ususually search for all Las Vegas Hotels and see what comes up - clicking on the total price for each hotel brings you to the details of what rate per night for each night they are giving you (so that you can see if they are offering you any nights comped). We almost never have any offers - but we can always get 5 nights comped each and the rest at at reduced rates...loads of others have had the same thing - no offers in the 'my offers' section but comped or reduced room rates through the reservations system...if you are travelling with someone else with a TR card and they are staying in your room, put their number in as your companion as this helps too.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Also check out:

Similar to vegashotelspecials.com but you can limit your search to the month you want to go which is handy.

Bally's rooms are really big relative to most hotels on the strip - we like the extra space and the renovated rooms are really nice...but it's not a themed hotel or casino - and the casino is pretty calm and laid back compared to most - but it's attached to Paris, so sort of 2 in one...we didn't like Harrah's rooms much (teeny tiny room) so I think photome is right in suggesting against it...Mirage is probably the poshest of the hotels in your list overall...MGM is massive (may still be the biggest hotel in the world)...haven't spent much time there personally but other than the size of the place being overwhelming for some most people seem to like it.

I think part of the fun of planning a Vegas trip is stalking hotel deals...so have fun and enjoy your first trip! :)

    Hi all

I am currently in a Go room at the Flamingo, the sun is shining and thanks to the $20 trick I have a great view of the Bellagio fountains! :j

Thank you thank you thank you for all your tips on here without which this trip would not have been the success it is.

Stayed at the MGM grand on Thursday on a $79 players club offer (joined online) with a $25 dinning credit. They didnt even ask for my card. Registered at the desk at baggage claim, very easy. Room had a view of the airport etc but was great for the price.

Moved to the Flamingo on Friday and tried the $20 trick, ooops, dont think I was discreet enough, I just put the $20 on the counter, was rather nervous. Said it would be great if we could have a fountain view room and he just smiled and picked up the phone. There wasnt one ready but he asked for it to be cleaned and checked me in, i had to go back in 1 hour to collect the key card.

Went to the buffet, it was good but I didnt eat enough to really justify the cost at $17 inc tax. It was still the brunch buffet and an amazing variety of fruit (gorgeous) salad, meats, cooked meals, pastries (wow), cakes (double wow) and even crepes etc cooked to order. Had a lovely view of the flamingos in the habitat outside.

Met up with my friend last night and ate at Mon Ami Gabi (sp?) managed to get a table outside with a superb view of the fountain show. Wow again. Although it was by then at 9.30 quite chilly and breezy especially as we had no jumpers/jackets. Food was not great, was hoping for French bistro food and it was not, it was also cold by the time it reached us. However, it was too late at night to start sending stuff back and the view made up for it.

Saw CDS Ka on Thursday night.....words just cannot describe how amazing that was, again, thank you to the person who posted the $50 offer, so so glad that i took advantage of it. We are off to see "O" tonight so really looking forward to that.

Anyway, sorry for the long post but just having such a great time. Yes I am hooked :rotfl:
