We tried both PH and Paris (we were staying in PH) and we preferred PH. Guess it's personal opinion really.

We prefer Paris for breakfast and PH for dinner. :)

  • We should definitely have a sticky Vegas thread in 2008.

What to do? this is reply from taxi complaint office,

    Dear Mr. Harvey :

I am in receipt of your complaint re:Nellis Cab Company taxi driver. From your information, I was able to identify the driver as (driver)

Your complaint may be handled in various ways. Such matters are generally addressed using the following options:
OPTION 1- Driver formally charged in our (Taxicab Authority) court system. This will necessitate your completing a formal, notarized statement and selecting the driver from a photo array. Conviction usually results in a monetary fine.

OPTION 2- Driver disciplined internally by his company. This typically results in a work suspension and/ or loss of privileges.

Please let me know, at your convenience, which avenue you wish to pursue.

Thank you for showing an interest in this matter. We value your input greatly.

    Sincerely,

    (officer)

I would not have complained in the first place for the sake of about £3. Did he know you didnt want to go through the tunnel?

I think what bothers some people is that it's actually illegal for taxi drivers to take you via the tunnel without asking you first...if they take you a route that is more expensive than another option even if it is faster (i.e. via the tunnel) they are supposed to give you the options and let you choose...personally, me, I'll take the faster route myself - everytime...but others disagree as the belief is that cabbies do it even though it is illegal because tourists don't know better.

I would have just not tipped the driver and explained that the long-haul resulted in the lack of a tip...I don't think that I could report someone for something like this myself...not saying it was wrong to do so, just that I wouldn't.

thanks wdyw, we are really looking forward to it and it will be our first time there .

i think i'm going to probably pass through Bethel on the way to Jackson from Bar Harbour, as i had penciled in Route 2 for this journey.

2 goes indeed go right past Bethel. Just before Bethel and The Sunday River ski area, Grafton Notch is well worth a half hour stop (only 5 mins max from the 2)
