when is the cheapest time of the year to go las vegas?

and has anyone been alone? how did you find it going alone?

    thanks

I went in August on my own and would happily go back in the same style. No one cares in Vegas if you are on your own, plus I probably met more interesting people on my own (including 2 v. hot croatian girls!) than I would have if some of my mates had came.

Thing about Vegas is that there is so much to see and do that you can't get bored. Advantage of being on my own was that I could get up at whatever time suited me and plan my day from there.

the cheapest time for rooms are 2 weeks before Xmas and week after new year generally. it varies the rest of the year on public Holidays , sporting events, Conventions, and weather.

flying within june - sept time seems to be the most expensive ( and of course bank holidays ect) , prices before end of may are generally better and more late deals ect.being able to fly mid week and being as flexiable as possible as regards your departure airport are the first steps to getting a good fare . also planning as far ahead as possible, superb late fares are possible but there are no guarantees

to be any more specific you will need to let us know some proposed dates/ details

What is classed as a cheap flight? I can never find anything much under £500. Are they last minute or am I looking in the wrong place?

I remember looking during the first part of the year and I noticed that MyTravel (If you want to go with them reading the comments here) had very cheap flights at last minute before the end of May, but I think you have to be lucky to catch them and be able to go within a few days.

A cheap flight to me is around £300. I have paid £280 for a miles plus money fare with Virgin (next march) If yoiu dont have any miles £35 will buy you enough for an economy flight. I booked as soon as the flights were released, i find that is normally about the best time to book, but then again once I have booked I dont look anymore.

What airport are you flying from? I completely agree with everything photome said and we do the same - book pretty much 10-11 months in advance as it works for us and £280 for miles + money is our standard anymore. But that's for flights from Gatwick on Virgin...it seems that flights from Manchester are more expensive unless you're willing to fly with MyTravel and other UK airports may be even more expensive just depending on a number of factors.

  • We are going over xmas this year and Virgin wanted £900-odd each for economy seats and that was back in March!
We ended up booking Maxjet for £750 each. I would NEVER fly with MyTravel, even if they were giving away flights!

Flying from London scheduled I'd consider £300 to be cheap and £350 to be average. Anything over that I grumble. I usually fly AA and change enroute booking direct on their own website which is routinely cheaper than Expedia.
I don't like the Virgin direct flight as it's a bit of a booze flight at times if you get a big stag group. I have once and that was enough.

Me neither, but I know others who are happy to grin and bear it for the savings...which is fair enough...for us flights are something that we're willing to spend the extra money to know what we are getting...but plenty of other things we wouldn't spend the extra cash on where others would...so all down to what has value for you.

can't wait to hear how your Christmas flights are...we're flying MaxJet next March, but have Virgin flights for November...a bit afraid that once we fly MaxJet we will have difficulty going back to Virgin. :)
