What's the best way to get down town from the strip? (We went by cab last time but there must be a cheaper way).

Anyone got any tips on travelling around? Free shuttles etc.....

"The Deuce" bus service is my prefered method as it is only $5 for unlimted one days travel and the strip service is Mandalay Bay to right outside Fremont Street.

it does have it,s disadvantages though. it can be hard getting a seat / or sometimes even getting on if you catch it Mid strip around T.I / Mirage area at busy times.. and it can take a while to weave through the strip ( which is always busy whatever method you take down it). if it is busy we take a taxi instead. Tip for all 1st time vistors taxis must be called for you by the Hotel caller ect and they don,t stop while on the road if you hail them .

Strip Trolleys are okay but they rattle you around and are uncomfortable IMO. also they drop you off at the back of certain casinos meaning a trek to strip side.

I don,t like the Monorail the runs from the MGM to the Hilton as it is a tad expensive for me and again drops you off at the Back of the Hotels it stops at. it is a fair trek through Harrahs and the MGM if you the want to get over the other side of the strip after.

The Free Monorail that links Excalibur and Mandalay Bay is great though.
Hi guys, hope you can help....

Me and two of my friends are going to vegas on the 12th of September and returning on the 16th.
We are looking for hotels that is situated in the right place for three 23 year olds.
I done a random search on hotels and the Stratosphere came up at a price of £66 per person for four nights(3 people sharing the one room), is this any good?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

agree with Ferf . Flamingo would be a sound choice and £4 a night extra very well spent.

also consider the following offers ( hope my maths is right with these :o , so please do check them out for yourself)

    New York New York = $815 / 4 nights = $203 pnight / 3 people = $68 pp pn =£34
    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=010&host=promo&code=INT262&kbid=374305

    Really really live it up at Mandalay Bay = $1133 / 4 nights = $283 p night / 3 people =$95 = £48

    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=mbh&host=promo&code=PMB07S&kbid=374305

and in case you ( or anyone else ) missed all the links in the thread for offers here they are again so you can look for anything else that takes your fancy

We have priced the 'good' hotels in LV, and are definately tempted by The Bellagio. So far we've managed to get 4 nights for £650 for the 2 of us.
Are we likely to get it any cheaper if we wait, or should we book now?

    Many thanks,

    Sally

ahh The Bellagio it's the one everyone falls in love with from the pictures :lovethoug . £650 ?? not for me when you could get MGM SIGNATURE for $1150 for thoose dates , with the option to cancel if something better comes along

I am going to Vegas for the first time on the 7th of Septmember. There are 3 of us travelling and we just want the one room between us. We are all students so want to be in the heart of the action but are also on quite a tight budget! Can anyone suggest where we might be best looking to stay on the Strip?

okay right on the strip Imperial Palace is going to be your best bet for "bang for your buck" location wise.. followed by the Trashy Castle ( AKA the Exaclibur if you think you won,t mind it) . Circus Circus , sahara and The Stratosphere :undecided are all up the top end and out of the main action and cheap for a reason.personally i think you can do much better for your $.

    going cheaper
Hooters might be a good option if it is lads only. ( travelworm.com always has good Hooters deals :cheesy: ) and would be a much better pick than circus circus , sahara and Strat IMO. Tropicanna can be pretty cheap too. these 2 have good locations but most their rooms are not that highly rated. however from your brief i would expect you to be using it for sleeping... not living it up in luxury

I may have read the original post wrong, but that £4 extra for Flamingo is for all 4 nights...£4 per person extra based on the rates I could see - I assumed his £66 per person for the Strat was the quote he had for all 4 nights? So £66 per person or £198 for the 4 nights total.

Again, may be completely confused there, though!
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

 no i think it's me who got confused , cause lets face it £66 per person per night at the The Strat is seriously overpaying !!!! so would be £66 x 3(people) x 4 (nights) =£792 or nearly $1600. ouch i don't think so.

£66 AKA $132 x 3 = $396 for 4 nights sounds a reasonably good price. but it is the Strat less we forget.

i would still go for one of your post hot deal offers over it any day.

I plan to travel to Vegas with my wife and daughter next July. We will probably fly from Manchester as we live in Scotland. When is:
    -the best time to book
    - what price should we expect to pay
    - best site to use (presently use travelsupermarket)
Any advice would be much appreciated
    Thanks

Last year I took 3 of my adult kids with us and booked them in their own room, rooms are based 2 sharing so had to pay about $15 extra for the extra person, but if I hadn't said anything there is no way they would have known there was an extra guest in the room.

first forget travel supermarket IMO or any other price compare site .we have never had anyone post saying "wow look at the fare i got from the screenscrapers ect " .. to get a good fare your going to have to do your own leg work and unfortuanlty there are no hard and fast rules for knowing when flights ( BMI and Virgin in particular) are at there lowest.

from Manchester you have 2 choices ( direct at least) BMI and My Travel.
July is popular month for UK travellers to Vegas it seems (even though there are much much better months to go in terms of price , and climate). as we have said a £300 direct fare (espically in popular time like July) is good going. to be honest though i would say £400 each is about a low as you you can expect to get without a real hold your nerve late booking. ( i may be wrong here but please post if you know different)

My Travel prices rarely dropped below £450 this July. and there were few late offers. you can chance it if you like but they only fly twice a week and may sell out ( everyone else thinks of June , July and August too) . how Happy are you with a £450-£500 fare ??? My Travel do fly out of Glasgow as well but only in the summer and not many flights a week , so you may not see much movement on current prices ect.

goto to the My travel web site and start like your booking a "sun" package not a indivdual flight. the first option is then the fly drive only option , ignore the car hire and remove all extras ( in flight meals ect). they usually knock a few quid of the price for online discount. (now i ve said all that it seems not be the case for Glasgow next year deals so give them a call in person for a quote)

BMI will also have high prices i expect.deals do appear there but it,s a lottery as to when. very regular checking and re checking on the BMI site to get a gauge of the prices. then you will know a good price is advertised. don,t delay if you see a price you are happy with they can shoot up again quickly ( see my BMI fare story ariund page 30 ish). Grab it quick !!!!!

if you really want a good July fare your best option may well be Virgin out of Gatwick booked in a sale using a Miles and Money fare as described in post #500. at least with Virgin you have a reasonably good idea when the their sales will start ( xmas and after holidays is a good pointer) plus you can download the sale alert program to your desktop from the Virgin atlantic site. again lots of regular checking is a good idea.

i know Gatwick is a long way but consider a cheap ryan air type flight down the day before as it may be cheaper than restricting yourself to Manchester. doing this you can also take advantage of the twilight check in with Virgin. you should check it now as regards to money and miles and consider anything around £400 if i was you .

if direct is not so important to you ( beware you looking at 16 hours plus if it,s not !!) this site has good deals

http://www.airline-network.co.uk/ click on the best buy "las vegas" link

also try giving dial a flight a call on the telephone ( they don,t do websites)

other tips . fly in the week , and be flexiable

after the flights booked it's time for fun part of booking you hotels . thats a lot easier

In case this helps anyone, AA have a sale on (book by 15th August)...these will be connecting flights so would be worth comparing prices to what Virgin or BMI are offering for direct flights, but may work for some...departures from London or Manchester

    22nd August to 31st October - £380
    1st November to 14th December - £360
