Stick with it, Will, you will feel much better in a few days. Meanwhile, the money is piling up already!

Just wanted to wish you good luck!

Diet Coke is pretty evil stuff.. my housemate is addicted and it's her new year's resolution to give up too. Seeing how much she has struggled & failed to give up before is really quite scary and testament to just how addictive it really is.

I have hardly touched the stuff since I had a cancer scare a few years ago and actually started to really take note of what I put in my body. Aspartame is def one to avoid especially in hot drinks like Lemsip and in chewing gum etc.

Good Luck with day 3 and beyond!

Good Luck - wish you all the best. Only just seen this thread as not been on too much but I have an addiction to the Full Fat Coke. Have been drinking it everyday and have realised that I need it to get going in the morning. Again I can see the cost so am also trying to cut down this year. A lot of mine is just habit. I do enjoy it occassionally - especially on a hot day from a cold glass bottle. So I too am gonna try to cut down on this vice.

My housemate is also addicted to it, but has a strange habbit of opening a can, drinking a few mouthfulls and then leaving the rest to go flat. In a strange way this is moneysaving though - all those half cans of coke get used by me to clean the loo...saves a fortune on bleech! (and when you look how it makes the loo sparkle, you do wonder what it does to your teeth and insides!)

  • Day 3, brilliant, i don't actually have any cravings for diet coke but am feeling uber down today, some other problems and what not but at least i didn't cave for the drink!

    Will

Just a wee note to let you know am still with you. Day 3 and no DC to date!! Stuck to water. Did have a huge headache yesterday but otherwise ok.

    Keep going :)

  • Maybe I'm being pedantic (Ok, I know I am!) but why do people call it "full fat" coke? Theres is zero fat in coke. Theres coke with lots of sugar in it (which could turn to fat if you drink loads) or coke with artificial sweeteners.

Just want to join in cherring you on and hope for some inspirtation myself.

I seriously need to lose weight and becuase of my health I can't do any exercise, and my meals are reasonably healthy - i know my problem is coke and irn-bru (not diet, hate diet). I have tried and tried to give them up, but I don't drink tea or coffee, and I have never drunk water (refused as a child, hate it now, makes me feel sick) so it's tough.

I now have Ribena, flavoured water (with sugar in it because I can't have sweetners), squash, pure apple juice and a carton of grape and rasberry int he house. It's now just a case of willpower to drink those and NOT the coke. I don't want to give it up entirely cos sometimes only coke will do, but once a week is what I'm aiming for.
