I really need to get my a** in shape so no other option than to dive straight back into it.
Can anyone help me though, really need some direction on portion control, not just for me but for a slightly overweight cider loving mechanic. How can I make sure that we get enough but not too much, he has a busy manual job, I sit on my ever expanding bottom for most of the day, I have lots of kitchen gadgets including a slow cooker, I just dont know how to make the most of them.
    Any tips??

First thing, do you know how many calories you both need on order to lose weight? Find that out first and we can go from there!

  • My weigh-in for August is 9st 2lb. Not a clue what that is in lbs/kg. Just done my first day on the Dukan diet and suprised at how easy it is. Not sure I'll feel the same when carb withdrawal headaches start though!!

    Feeling REALLY positive for August!

How would I find/work that out Dragon??
Can you tell I'm not very good at this, hardly surprising we're gaining weight instead of losing it!!

Okay go into calorie count on the first post and fill out your information (height/weight etc), do not save or sign up! they should tell you how many calories you want in order to lose weight, then do the same for your husband - if you get stuck PM the information and I will work it out for you :D

Hello everyone! New to the weight loss threads but can I sign up please!

Need to start getting serious about shifting some of this weight, just back from Zumba so I'm off to a good start!
Done WW last year and lost 2 stones, have since put it all back on again. I actually had been pretty good the past few weeks, but I had my best friend's 21st last weekend and my mum's 50th this weekend. The house is still full of food, birthday cake and cupcakes...must resist!!
    My new exercise plan is
30 Day Shred dvd every morning
    Monday: Zumba
    Tuesday: Zumba
Wednesday: Swimming (if not working, I usually work backshift on Wednesdays)
    Thursdays: Swimming

Sticking to a diet is pretty hard for me as I am such a fussy eater, I can see myself living of cup a soups for the next month!

Have just weighed myself and my starting weight is 200lbs

Wow! Just picked up the cross trainer from my MIL's. I did 5 minutes on it and the display read 71 calories burnt. 71 calories in 5 minutes?!?!? Surely that can't be right, if so, I've found my cardio machine lol

Hey Siren, I spoke to my gym instructor the other day about whether the machines at our gym were accurate and he said you can probably think of working off 10 calories per minute of decent intensity cardio. So your cross trainer isn't too far off.

Good to see so many new 7lb peeps! xx

  • Well so much for my August optimism, had a bit of an emergency yesterday and ended up spending the whole day in the hospital (as a friend not the patient) so all good intentions fell by the way side when all I could find to put in my tummy was a plate of cold chips, some jelly babies and some disgusting cake! On the plus side I did start the day off well with an aquacise class before it all fell apart! Friend is fine though so I suppose that's all that matters really. BUT from my end of July weigh in on Friday I have managed to go up AT LEAST a lb (can't tell how much for sure since they're old fashioned scales) so I shall say that my start weight is 11st8lbs (162lbs) though I fear that it is slightly more than that  but if I can get anywhere near the 11st flat mark by the end of the month I will be over the moon - YAY! :j
