A Very Happy New Year to everyone on here, I second (third, fourth, whatever) all the sentiments expressed about the friendliness and helpfulness of all the OSers, my life has definitely become all the better for finding this board (not to mention healthier and cheaper :) )

We saw in the New Year at my sister's flat in London, watched the amazing London Eye fireworks in the comfort of her home (actually OH and I nearly boiled alive, she keeps her thermostat at a whopping 25 degrees, I felt like melting in the heat). Drank a lot of fizzy stuff and she'd put on a nice spread of salads and buffet food for us to snarf.

Got home here around 2.30 and the cat decided it was time for breakfast as usual around 6ish so I've been downing gallons of coffee and trying to get my head to work properly again. Discovered that I left my watch at DSis's so am now wandering around in even more of a daze than usual :o

No major plans to do much today, got all the ironing done yesterday :T we had a mega piece of roast beef for lunch yesterday so have plenty for dinner tonight as well, will probably make a moussaka or a shepherd's pie with the remains.

DS20 disappeared off to a party in the wilds of Buckinghamshire last night and discovered that there are no buses running today so someone (I nominate OH ;) ) has to drive miles to collect him again.

Have no idea what we're going to eat today yet, my head hurts!!

Have a great day everyone, hope 2007 brings happiness and wealth to us all

    Love
    FF xx

Yes, I am up for a bit of flying. Have written today's tasks in my filofax and will happily tick them off as I do them.

Have done a bin bag full of shredding - does this count as my 30 mins of filing?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

My aim is to be so in control of my housework etc that I can get rid of the cleaner (saving £25 a week) without anyone in the house realising! So, baby steps it may be but the end goal is firmly in mind!

Morning everyone and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. I hope you all have a peaceful and prosperous (in an OS way) 2007!

I wasn't feeling too well last night unfortunately. We had a quiet night in with our boys but I really wanted to go to sleep at about 11pm :o I managed to stay awake until midnight but then I went straight up to bed, shattered. There were amazing fireworks locally, not proper organised ones but just at peoples' parties. I don't remember this as a child. I think people only started having fireworks on NYE at the millennium.

Anyway, I made vegetable soup in my slow cooker yesterday, which is a success, if a bit thin. DS is off to Dad's shortly to watch football. I'm still not feeling great, nothing to do with alcohol either so I'll just enjoy my last day off before having to go back to work in the morning. OH goes back to Wales tonight. His hours have just changed so now he will be working 4 long days instead of 5 regular ones. Hopefull that will mean I get to see more of him. :D

Right, DS wants the PC to find some song lyrics so I need to get off here!

    Have a great day everyone!

    Morning everyone

I promise not to shout - I know some of you still have sore heads :D

Very sober night for me last night. Had a glass of mulled wine and 2 small glasses od dessert wine (does it count as 'flying', as I was "just using up" an open bottle? :rotfl:) Sat on the settee with my lappy on my knee, Mr TM was there, boys were asleep, fireworks outside and just watched crappy tv all night. Ok, I took down my deccies after the boys went to bed, so they all need to go in the attic now.

Mum's coming for tea so will get everything straight for that. Lamb going in SC shortly and I have either some crumble mix in the fridge to use or a choccy cheesecake in the freezer..... decisions, decisions. Which would be best with 3 gallons of cream? LOL

Right, tea's drunk, bacon and egg butty has been consumed and I have a small person attacking me with a sonic screwdriver!!

Wishing you all health, wealth and happiness for 2007

Happy new year to one and all.

Quiet one for us last night (still managed a bottle of red and a bottle of cava between us though - DH was muttering about port when I wandered upstairs)

Watched BBC scotland - I love "Still Game".

Just bought DH the hat scarf and gloves he's wanted for ages from Fat Face - they're in the sale so I think I got all three for less than one would have been full price.

I need a new ironing board cover (really I do) and once that is purchased there will be no "buys" in our house apart from groceries for the rest of Jan.
    Can I do it?

Off to write down the flylady list - and get going.

Wish this stinking cold would get the message and go. Why do I have to be rotten during the holidays?

Take care all and have a good one.

  • Feel the need for some strong tea now as I was slightly more than tiddly last night when I posted. :D

We came home a day early as all my family in Scotland are ill. Didn't come home soon enough though as poor DD is feeling VERY under the weather with a high temperature, sore throat and a chesty cough. The trouble with this bug is that some of my family have been suffering this for SEVEN weeks. As its a virus there is nothing they can do except take pain relief, drink lots of fluids and rest. I hope DD doesn't have it for that long.

I bought myself a slow cooker in the sales in Scotland (I really should not read this forum when I have no money. ) so now I will be a regular browser of the SC recipe threads. I don't intend to do anything resembling housework or cooking today but I will be trying it out tomorrow.

Right, DS has something that he wants to show me on the web apparently (better go hide the credit card. ;))

    Morning everyone :)

    Happy New Year

My start to the New Year has not been the best as we have had a major barney (I'll call it an emotional discussion as we don't really shout at each other). I have been crying all morning and still can't stop. I need to take time out to get my head straight but I can't because I have nowhere else to go :o .

When I get like this at least I do things and so the washing has been put on, turkey carcass is bubbling for soup and decorations might come down today although maybe not as I don't want the children to see me doing it if I am upset.

    Hugs all round.

Morning folks! Happy New Year to you all!

am rather tired today, didn't get to bed till 4am:eek: up again just after 9 to fetch DS2 from his sleepover. Didn't touch a drop either!:D am teetotal but was helping DH and DS1 do a disco.Got home at 2.30 then there was a drama up the road which needed 2 fire-engines, ambulance. police and doctor, still not found out what happened but we were nosing through the windows for a bit, the lights were flashing into our room, nobody wasa hurt in the end because thankfully the ambulance was empty when it left.

    Housework today, desparately needed.

Have a great new years day and good health to you all for 2007!

    Take care xxxx
