Someone's Going To Get Stung

Grow up? Your comment was, and I quote directly,
"the majority of people that fall for scams, or cleverly worded listings are greedy. whatever else, primarily greedy"
I think you will find that the majority of people in society who fall for scams are defenceless people, people in need of care and support.
Grannies etc.
I think you will find the "greedy" people are usually the ones who dont give a monkey about those who require support, and will use them to gain further wealth for themself. If ever there was a "greedy" person, then surely its a con-artist

Its deliberately misleading to place it in the wrong category, and so it is a con.
Taking advantage of those less knowledgeable than you isnt fair or decent. I wonder how many people would be happy when they find out a member of their family had been ripped off by a garage or a builder, just because they were unfamiliar with the work that needed doing, or didnt. If Ebay dont crack down on these type of people, it will become a haven for con artists, and its reputation will be damaged.
Im surprised that anyone finds this acceptable on any level."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -
It's a con pure and simple.
And sellers who are involved in these type of auctions need to have there IP addresses blocked permanently by ebay.
Not least for the sellers own safety(and I imagine most of them are teenagers) because sooner or later someone is going to get shot on their doorstep over one of these scams .0 -
And there was me thinking the point of ebay was to grap a bargain and to pay as little as possible for said item..... tell you what next time I win something for a good price I'll send them extra to make up for my greedyness. Come to think of it, next time I am in Tesco and I spot a reduced bargain, I shall INSIST they take full price for the item. Wouldn't want to be greedy by grabbing a bargain......laura_marshall89 wrote:Lets be honest here, the majority of people that fall for scams, or cleverly worded listings are greedy. whatever else, primarily greedy.

I don't think anyone has said that they consider it "acceptable". Personally I just don't lose sleep over the fact that people are too stupid to read what's under their noses.
If you want to spend all your time doing Ebay's work for them in reporting them - and I'm sure they're eternally grateful  - then don't let me stop you. :wall:

If users don't report, nothing gets done. Ebay don't go LOOKING for hassle, they wait for someone to jump up and down and say 'Look at that, isn't that naughty? Deal with it'
When I'm in a certain mood, I'll go on a reporting spree. Today I brought some location abuse listings to the attention of ebay :rolleyes:My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I think youve changed your tune since Yesterday at 3:53 PM, when you said:
"If people are too stupid to read what's written in front of them then they deserve everything they get. I've no sympathy whatsoever."
In effect, you said that you find it acceptable to pull the wool over peoples eyes and charge as much as you can get away with, even if you have to do so in an underhanded manner, as this seller did by wrongly listing his item. Undoubtedly some people will agree with you, but personally I, and quite a few others here, find such practices unacceptable. I guess we just have different standards."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0 -
I think we should just all accept some people have different views. This is why we have people who scam after all. And people who go to jail. People who do charity work... etc etc.
Its not really helping anybody with us bickering like children.
People just like to say it wind people up.. .ive had enough bait for 1 threadBe nice0 -
It's a shame ebay are too idle to police their own site.
It ain't difficult telling what's dodgy and what's legit. Ebay are too busy counting their money to give damn. I think laws should be changed so that ebay as well as the sellers are someway held accountable especially when it comes to piracy.0 -
