Aww, my DH's birthday is in early January too, and I know what you mean about other people 'forgetting' it (seriously, we had a year when MIL and FIL really forgot!). It's mad, so I can totally see where you're coming from.

Sorry to jump in on this conversation...

My soon to be daughters birthday is 24th December. When I have officially adopted her I will give her a naming ceremony and that will be a seperate celebration with pressies kinda like a half birthday as well. I have made a big thing to friends and family that I don't want them to give her 'one big' pressie at Christmas, I want her to have one small one wrapped in birthday paper and one small one in xmas paper....

I wonder if I am being too harsh.

    Hi Ophie

I don't think you're being too harsh if that's what works for you and your family. We've spoken to all of ours and are actually fighting a battle NOT to have presents on her birthday (Boxing Day) as we don't want a house full! The idea is to split her presents, not make everyone buy double.

She's your daughter, so you get to decide what's best. It's one of the perks of being a parent (that's my line and I'm sticking to it. It's got nothing to do with me wanting tea parties in the garden for Imogen, honest ;) )

Hi, first of all congrats dormouse, been away so not logged on for few days. I hope all is going well.

Bought a buggboard on Sat, as older two get so tired when out and about and I can't carry them and push buggy, not sure if I like it. 2 yr old bit too short and 4 yr old too big for thing- she's far too lazy in my opinion.

Hayden seems to look huge despite only being 8 weeks old, he looks more like a four month old.

two yr old starts pre-school in next few weeks and four yr old starts nursery this Thursday, I'm so scared by how time is running away so fast.

    Have a good day.

re: nappies, see if your real nappy network has any events that you csn go to. I have always used preolds and wraps from bambino mio, however poundland are currently selling wraps for £1 each, which is fantastic as the wraps are usually about £6 each, however they are tommee tippee/ cotton bottoms, not bambino mio, but they can be used fine with any pre-fold nappy! good luck.

Can you parents enlighten me as to where a baby sleeps?
Because we're doing up a nursery, but if the baby is going to be sleeping in our bedroom for, what was it 6 months, then I really don't need to worry about that yet.
We have a small room, currently computer room, where nursery would be, and a large spare room which was going to be used as guest/play room with computers in it. But am wondering now if we should leave the computers where they are...(they take so much space and make so much mess)
Aaarrgghh. I know nothing about babies, let alone where I will want them to be...

Hi Agutka, hope the pregnancy is going well, remember you from the pregnancy club. We had DD1 in with us for about 12 weeks but disturbed her too much, so moved her to her own room. DD2 was in with us for the full 6 months (this is what is recommended by the cot death experts), but I think that was down to me knowing that I'm not having any more babies, so wanted to make the most of her :o When she moved to her own room she also seemed to sleep better, so probably we were disturbing her too. I would leave the computers where they are for now and play it by ear, even if you don't last the 6 months, it is certainly far more convenient in the early days to have them sleeping with you.
