they have childrens centres as well where they often run courses for babies and mums. i did baby massage and baby sign at mine, they also have a cafe where you can just go and chat and a dedicated baby room with a hv and speech therapist on duty for a chat0 -
Awwww, congrats Spinning-hamster-wheel, Amelie is a lovely name. Induction can be a bit grim, but once your baby is here, you just don't care any more do you? (the memory does fade btw...lol!)
I tried re-usables (cotton bottoms) but Natasha absolutely hated them, she could barely move her legs. I still like the idea of them though, so will give them another try when she's a bit older."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Congrats Michelle
I've got some Motherease One Size for Charlotte. I tried them when she was a newborn, but there was so much fabric that she looked like a weeble
I've had an odd try with them since, but she always complains the minute she does a dribble of wee in them, and it was waking her up from her long afternoon sleep. She's horrid if she doesn't get a decent sleep in the afternoon!
Disposables are working better for us, but I'm buying Tesco own brand in the green packets, which are considerably cheaper than Pampers and Huggies. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Congratulations Michelle! :j
I've got two boys now and I'm a tiny bit sad to think that I'lll never be pregnant again and go through the whole experience. Musn't get broody...musn't get broody...
My eldest (nearly 5) started 'big' school this week. I've never had the chance to do the school run before - as I've always worked. It seems really strange picking him up at the 'right' time after school and the house is really quiet with just me and the baby (8 weeks).
I'm really enjoying this stage of my baby this time - I found it really difficult first time around as my eldest was a really fretful baby and needing carrying and feeding almost constantly! It's so much easier this time around that I could face another ten!0 -
Snaggles; compared to my son's birth the induction itself wasnt that bad, its just the feeling that I "failed" because I had to have the syntocinin drip/waters broken etc like last time where I wanted it to be different. I wanted this whole natural birth with no epidural, no drips, candles, aromatherapy, dolphin music......but I would have settled for the first two.
Oh well, maybe OH will agree to a 3rd and I'll get my whale music!
Jo, its so much easier with the 2nd baby! I feel as if I could have another one right now lol, Amelie's such a dream. My son was (is) a mummys boy from the moment he was born, he constantly wanted fed, held, played with. At least now I can turn on the dreaded ceebeebies if I need 10 minutes to do something!0 -
Congrats Michelle - we were due the same time last year and the thought of being pg again already is scary :rotfl: but I must admit that I had a pang of envy when I read your thread. No more for me either, got my 2 gorgeous girlies, no room or money for any more
Jo - my DD1 also started school this week, can't believe she's growing up this quickly. Really trying to make the most of Isabel whilst she's a baby too, but it's whizzing by so quickly. Can't believe she's 10 months already.
Speaking of which, just wanted to ask a quick question of other mums with similar age bubs. How much napping do your LOs do? Izzy usually only has one nap in the morning (she's just gone down and will need to be up by 11.30 when I have to go pick up DD1 from school - half days for 6 weeks ) and then I keep her awake in the afternoon unless she dozes off in the car in which case it's only a short 40 winks as she wakes up when we get home. Yesterday she seemed more tired than usual, so I put her down after lunch for a second nap. Of course in the evening she absolutely wouldn't settle at bedtime and we ended up getting her back down again for a couple of hours. Not good. Just wondered what others are doing at this age.0 -
congratulations!!! i'm ttc no 2 atm and my DD is 10 months,
mat leave is going to 12 months next april, when are you due?
Thanks for telling me that, bit of a brucie bonus. I had been thinking to myself i may only take 9 months off as money would start to be uncomfortabley tight with another year off so soon. Due date i calculate to be the 11th of May, so i may have done it right this time.0 -

Realistically, I don't think we'll be having any more (although I'm sure I will get broody again
) but because it's not a definite thing, it's really bothering me not knowing what we're going to do. I still haven't put my maternity things away as I don't know whether to get rid of them or whether I might need them again. And I so don't want to get rid of the tiny newborn stuff
(which DS2 is going to grow out of pretty pronto - he got weighed today and is 10lb on the dot - he's 2.5 weeks  )

Oh, and I found the 'squirty milk' didn't start for a couple of weeks, so you might still get it!
And I take back everything I've said about breastfeeding being different this time. I'm back in action with squirty milk fountains, strong letdown at awkward times (hate being in the car - those stupid seatbelts!), and generally loads of leakiness.
I think the only thing that's different is that I'm not faffing about with crappy pads this time, as I only use the ones that I know will do the job properly, so it doesn't seem as much of a hassle as it did first time round.

Hi everyone:hello:
Ive only just found this thread. Can I join?
I am 23 have a dd aged 4 (just started school this week!) and a ds aged 2.
My son is having a hearing test tomorrow as he is now 2 and 6 months and not speaking. He does make noises and I can understand what he wants but he doesnt really say anything recognisable. Has anyone had any late starters speech wise.
My daughter is really enjoying school (for now!) I thought I would be OK as she has been at nursery since she was a baby but I was filling up as I dropped her off! xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000
