Right, at the risk of getting hate mail (lol), can I ask a quick question? Has anyone had a baby that seems to sleep too much?

Natasha has a feed about 9.30pm, and then falls asleep and doesn't wake up until morning (I know, I know :o).

Now, when I was getting up for the school run, this was 7.30am-ish, but now we're into school summer holidays, she's sometimes sleeping until 9am, so almost 12 hours.

She's putting on weight as expected, and she's alert and happy during the day, but I'm worried that she shouldn't be going so long without a feed during the night.

Should I wake her, or should I just smile and count my blessings? She's 3 months old and I'm breastfeeding - don't know if that makes any difference?

LOL, I'd say that very quietly if I were you and keep everything crossed very tightly!!

My DD1 was exactly like that and I couldn't believe it as all my friends from post natal group were having such problems. DD2 on the other hand, is 9 months now and still wakes most nights

Certainly don't wake her, enjoy it while it lasts and thank your lucky stars that you have a great sleeper :T

Phew - I want to enjoy it, but sometimes I can't surpress the guilty feeling that maybe I'm neglecting her by leaving her to sleep so long. I keep reading that she should be feeding 6-8 times a day, but generally I'm lucky to make 6, sometimes, it's only 5, and one day last week, she only had 4 feeds, although she DID wake in the night that day.

She's had her jabs today, so maybe I'm just overly-anxious because of that.

And I'm really sorry to those who are having broken nights, I know how lucky I am. If it's any consolation, my son NEVER sleeps...lol!

    Just enjoy it Snaggles.

Charlotte is 3 months and is sleeping around 10-11 hours a night now and it's bliss

She's breast fed too, apart from her last feed around 10pm which is a bottle feed.

She did wake last night for a feed, but I've been full of cold for a couple of days and I think my milk is a bit rubbish. I've got plenty this morning though, and I'm currently wishing her to wake up before I explode :o:D
Here I go again on my own....

Goodness Snaggles, you mean there's a chance in around 10 weeks time I could possibly be enjoying a full night's sleep?! Wahey!

I shouldn't grumble because for the last 3 nights Tom has slept from midnight-ish until 6 or 7 am with only one feed between times which I hear is quite good for such a new baby (2.5 wks). However, one of the main principles of parenthood which I have already learned is that he is simply lulling us into a false sense of security by giving us a taster of what we might be enjoying. I fully expect him to embark on a spell of all-night wakefulness in the next few days!

I still can't work out if it's something I'm eating causing the wind and pain and grumping before bed or if it's "just colic" but today I'm cutting out bread to see if wheat's the problem. Desperately hoping it's not that - what on earth does a breastfeeding woman live on if she can't have toast?!

Becles, totally sympathise with the exploding boobs! Because Tash had her jabs yesterday, she lost her appetite a bit, and this morning I woke up with boulders strapped to my chest. This morning, I saw her stir a tiny bit, and I virtually dragged her out of her moses basket and latched her on! The only problem was, she was so full after so much milk, I had to wait another 3 hours for her to have the other side....ouch!

Eels, you never know - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Natasha has been a sleepy baby right from the start, in fact I was having to wake her for feeds in the first couple of weeks, to get feeding established.

I found Infacol was good for Natasha, as she couldn't get rid of her wind at first. She had it for a few days, and then it just settled down - she's a trumper rather than a burper though, which leads to some 'interesting' (read 'risk of being covered in flying poo') nappy changes....lol!

You have nothing to worry Snaggles. My dauther is only nine weeks old and I put her to bed at about 9pm and she sleeps till 8 or 9 in the morning. I was worried at first as well but my health visitor said as long as she eats ok and puts weight on there is nothing to worry about. I personaly love that I can get a proper night sleep.

guys you are lucky, make the most of them sleeping, sounds like bliss. I'm hoping little man will start sleeping through soon, he has gone 7pm til midnight a few nights and on Sat he went 10pm to 4am which was great.

Just moved onto washable nappies again. Did this with other two at about this age as well. Got to get used to folding nappies differently with a boy.

We went out all day on Saturday, which was the first family day out in ages. It was for my birthday and we went to Gullivers in Milton Keynes. Great day. DD2 was just about an inch too short to go on a lot of rides, although she did get in for nowt.

    Anyway have a good day
