Heather, how exciting, hope you're feeling well.

We had some news, SIL let it slip that she's pregnant, but because they had a miscarriage a few months ago, my brother has refused to tell me the happy news. So had to give her a huge bag of goodies in secret - not easy with an inquisitive husband.

Joseph had a tooth come out! It's been over three months since the last one. Another one to follow soon too! Grand total of four... but perfectly placed to do some damage - he needs some new weapons since I keep trimming his razor sharp nails.
And yes, he too has a cold

Snotty baby here too, and he had diarrhoea at the weekend, plus he's teething, so fun fun fun.

Michelle, I remember those early weaning days when the baby wants milk while he's still got carrot mush in his mouth. :D I had carrot in my bra on more than one occasion - just as well that stage doesn't last very long! :rotfl:

Big hugs to everyone - this is a miserable time of the year, isn't it? Now where's that Indian summer we're supposed to be having...

Hi all baby here sleeping better thankfully and I feel sort of alive today !!!!

Tooth no. 3 still struggling to cut through though, it seems to emerge a tiny bit and then heal over ...poor lo not in so much pain at the mo. though.

We have had a few firsts this and last week though - Archie learned to wave two weeks ago (only two days after I was amazed by my friends baby who is 6 weeks younger waving at me - she was sooooo cute :rotfl:)
and on the day he turned 10 mths we got clapping too :T .

My sister has taught him how to say no and shake his head too....very cute and appropriate too as I am always having to stop him from touching things climbing stairs etc ... which brings me neatly to a question....I need a stair gate for the top of my stairs but it's quite a big gap - does anyone know of a stairgate that is good for a gap over 93cm - most seem to go up to 92 so fall just short. Cheap and cheerful is fine but as it is for the top step it needs to be a screw in rather than push fit.

Thanks for the help in advance. :D

Tsstss7, thats weird Henry progressed from one finger pointing to waving last week aswell ! Tooth no 5 on its way for us.... I think my dad taught him how to shake his head to saying no so now I have to point my finger as well otherwise he thinks it a joke.

We are also fully crawling as of this week before it was just a lean forward then back on bum now we are in full flow so poor old dog won't have any peace now!!

Pleased to hear about the crawling and my dog sends his sympathies to your dog :D

I was trying to teach Charlotte to tidy up yesterday, and I was picking up toys and saying "in the box, nice and tidy" when I was putting them in the box. She did put a couple of things away and got lots of praise, then she picked up the dogs bone. She looked at it and walked over to where the dog was lying, lifted his lip up and stuffed it in his mouth :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....

at what age did you all start spoon feeding your babies? i only ask cos my wee man is 17 weeks next week, basically 4 months and the HV said that if i couldn't wait any longer I could start him on baby rice then. He used to only wake up twice in the night, but now he's wanting fed at 10pm, 12, 2am 4am and 6am - it used to be just 2am and 4am. So I'm assuming my milk just aint doing it any more! He's a real wee wriggler, always on the move and never sits still, so I'm thinking he's burning off everything he takes.

What do you all think of spoon feeding at 4 months?

thanks for the advise a few weeks ago about the all night sleeping and day time naps seem to be the answer! we now have a baby that sleeps from 7pm to 8am and im so happy!!! he has 3 naps a day 9.30 to 11.30 and then 1 to 3 then 5-5.30. he seems so much happier and wants to play and eat all day! thanks again for the suggestions!

now we just have to get DD to sleep in her bed all night instead of pulling her covers through and lying at the side of the bed and we are all the way lol!! she started nursery a few weeks ago and has now stopped crying when she goes in, which makes me feel better as i had that sick feeling walking away and her screaming her head off!!

hope all your grumpy babies ge better soon x

i had a very grumpy baby yesterday, she had her MMR and it was awful she screamed when the needle went in and didn't stop crying for ages, we even tried chocolate as a little treat and that didn't work. she kept rubbing her leg and going ouchy. a couple of doses of calpol and she's fine today but i think her leg is still sore as she's moaned a bit when i've been changing her nappy. she seems happier though and has been on her usual destruction routine around the house!

I fed Samantha milk from a spoon when she was 3 weeks old. Long cracked nipple story ...

Anyhow, they say the best way to tell if your baby is ready for solids is to see if they have lost their tongue thrust - ie where they automatically push out anything you put in their mouths.

Can I ask though, how many calories do you think you can give your baby with rice (or veggies or whatever) ? If your baby is hungry the no1 food is still formula or breast feeding ...

I am sure your baby is just going through a growth spurt. From personal experience starting solids at 6m is just SO much easier than at 4m.

I have to say that Samantha is being a such a brilliantly good baby again. Her 'poorly' state lasted less than a week, and she is used to the boys being away during the day again (school). She has been crawling properly for a few weeks now, and stands up at EVERY opportunity. She seems to only be able to wave with one hand at the mo. Dad waved goodbye to her the other day, and she ignored him for a bit, then swopped her 'holding onto' hand and promptly waved - in the opposite direction, but it was so cute.

She crawls around calling 'M' 'M' all day long. Its so cute.

Since we moved her into a big cot (from her camp cot) she has become a right old worm and wriggles about all over. I used to be amazed at how 'still' she was in the campcot, but she more than makes up for it now.

I have also started to put her onto the poty (just when we run her bath). She thinks she is the bee's knee's by pushing her self around the bathroom, whilst sitting on it.

Anyhow, hope everyone's baby's become 'happy' again.

    - that is just so funny. Charlotte sounds a right old character !!!
