i'm so glad Gem! oh it feels nice to be able to give advice that actually helps someone!

i've had a different problem with my wee man today, he seems to be constipated hasnt pooed since last night and normally its every nappy change, they say bf babies dont get constipated but he is. I've given him water today and tried to feed him lots, dont know what can have caused it and not sure how to help him, he was writhing in agony earlier. i swear every week there is something new!

Nadnad, are you sure your baby is constipated. I think he is BF, and it is quite common for BF babies to have 4-7 days between poos too.

He is only constipated if his stools are like hard little stones TMI alert (like picture no 1).

problem solved - never was so happy to change a really dirty nappy this morning after his feed! it was watery as usual but i assumed he was constipated because he was straining really hard yesterday and nothing was coming out - normally he poos after every feed. ah well the wonders of babies always keeping you on your toes!

anyone got any favorite bath supports for little ones, we've started bathing him in big bath now, but we have a really deep bath and something to help support him would be great cos it can get agonising bending into bath.

thanks i got one today in mothercare hopefully this will save my back! we'll see how it goes tonight. Am I the only one who baths their baby every night? none of my friends do, and we didnt at the start, but its part of his routine before bed now and i think it tires him out a wee bit and helps him sleep.

I do and have done from the start. I don't think I actually bathed him at all for the first week (We were still in hospital and just top and tailed) but after coming home we've bathed Tom every day and he loves it. I also think, as you do, it helps with a bedtime routine. Everyone else in the family bathes / showers every day, why not the baby too?
  • We bathe Elliot every night, purely to give him a bit of routine - well OH does it and it's my little break in the evening! They both love it and it's a good way to get some of that energy out before he starts winding down for bed (well - that's the idea!)

Ds has such sensitive skin that we only bathe him at most every other day - more often than not it can be every 3rd day. He only get bathed in plain water, but I can use a soap solution on a wipe to clean him properly where he needs it - http://www.babykind.co.uk/wipes.htm#babybits

It also means that he's not reliant on there being a bath every evening, so if we're running late etc then it's no big deal.

I've always bathed mine every night, and my boys still go in the bath every night but unsupervised now!

I don't wash Charlottes hair every day as it's getting so long now though. Normally just do it once a week or more often if she's smeared her dinner through it
Here I go again on my own....
