Anyone got any ideas about size 2 real nappies? Imogen's nearly out of the first size ones we were given and although we have some size 2s as well they are a bit brown. We thought we'd treat her peachy little bum to some new ones and just use the given ones as back up.
I'm looking for some which dry quickly 'cos we don't have a tumble drier. I've got some on the airer at the moment which have been there since Friday afternoon and still aren't dry! I know the bamboo ones are meant to dry quicker, but have heard that actually they don't.
Any advice - and bargains - gratefully received. Obviosuly I will also be claiming some money back from my local council who do this as part of there real nappy scheme. Guess that's a tip for everyone - check what incentives your local council do. If you've still got receipts you may qualify. :money:

Fluffles made by Tots Bots are meant to dry really quickly and stay soft - they are made from microterry with a sewn in fleece liner. I haven't actually used them though so I can't say if they are any good but they seem to get quite good reviews. Maybe someone else here has used them?
They aren't especially cheap (about £9 for poppers or £8.50 for the nappy nippa version) but Babykind give you 5% off for 10 or more. And they come with a booster that poppers inside as standard. HTH.Roseycosey :hello:0 -
As for cheap cots Purplepatch, the best I have seen that you can get quickly is around £60, so not exceptionally cheap - both John Lewis and Mothercare sell them at that price if you're interested, but the JL one looks better made.
Thanks for that, she ordered the mothercare one as it was 1 day dispatch but the email says 5 working days so now a bit worried it won't be here in time for Sunday. JL is 14 days delivery!!
Discovered that babiesrus do specific day delivery for £6.95, expect we will go for that instead and cancel mothercare as £2 extra delivery charge for the peace of mind seems worth it - seems most places do a "budget" cot for roughly £60 - they all look to be the same very basic style.
Enjoyed your pics moozikgal - where did you get married, it looks very nice?0 -
Sorry Purplepatch, thought JL were quicker than that - they've always delivered quick to me, as have mothercare. Glad you found one though!
Moozikgal, you look beautiful, if you don't mind me saying so! CONGRATULATIONS!! :T Looks like you had lovely weather for it too!Roseycosey :hello:0 -

No need to apologise - your post was helpful. Yes, I find JL really quick most of the time, it's obviously just that particular cot that has some delivery issues...
Have had probs with Mothercare last year - no sign of my baby carseat order - only turned up after I chased 3 weeks after ordering! Most of the time they are pretty good though.0 -
Hi again,
Today i have been snoozing and catching up on sleep while Mr E and little one were at work and nursery. Much needed rest and i will be sorted for work tomorrow now!
We got married in Lancaster at their registry office and then went to a canal side pub close by called the Waterwitch. Very yummy food, great drinks and wonderful atmosphere with people. Returned to our house about 5 and had everyone round and started the party here with a happy birthday sing song of everyone on heilum which made one of the little 5 year olds cry as he didnt know what was going on!
Finished the night off with all our friends playing eyetoy and buzz the music quiz.
It was fantastic and i wouldnt change any of it. (and yes.. he is a dish!!)
Sorry i dont know much about reusable nappies. I had all intentions of using reusable nappies but it seemed to not happen. My (new) SIL works in boots so a big discount on nappies and things!Deliver us from email....0 -

Thanks for all the ideas on nappies. Keep them coming! Imogen is in bed asleep for the first time today - although I have put her up there 2 other times and she's screamed so hard for so long I've brought her down. I don't normally give in, but she was sooo upset. Bless.
Have just arranged to go into the office to help on Thursday. In my office job I work at the Environment Agency and the flooding up here has been really hard on the team. That'll be interesting! I'm not due back until March 08 so will see how it feels.
Just about to do some more nappy research so will let you know of any bargains. Thanks all.

Hi everyone,
I wondered if people with 2 children close in age could advise me on how to cope.
Assuming my pregnancy goes to term, i'm going to have 2 babies under 15 months. I am a worrier anyway and I am wondering how I am going to cope with 2 this young. Nappies is fine, I am thinking if I am changing one bum, do the other at the same time, so I know when they both need doing next. But food wise, I can't physically feed them together. I am hoping to breastfeed to reduce workload with bottles, but if Jack needs me whilst feedings, I can't exactly stop.
I know this sounds really stupid, as I know people cope with twins, triplets etc, but how do you do it??? Any tips or tricks you could pass onto me please.
My husband goes out by 8am and rarely home before half seven, nearer 8, so I am going to have to do nearly everything. As well as looking after Jack I do all the washing, cleaning, shopping, accounts, sorting out the car, cooking, look after the garden, he does the lawns and clean up endless mess made by the cats. I hardly have time for myself and still find myself doing jobs past 9pm. This is with one baby so how do I manage 2 without running myself ragged.
My parents are close by and will help I expect in the early days, but I will have to learn and learn quick.
I am sorry if this sounds really trivial but its not to me, I am worrying.
I like my house to be fairly tidy, things in its place and clean to look at, although if I don't dust for a few weeks that's ok but it needs to be fairly tidy or I can't cope looking at it.
Thanks for your help.0 -
Bailey, I haven't got two kids close together, so I can't advise about that, but I can REALLY relate to the mess issue - I get soooo stressed if things are messy. So I hope you don't mind if I butt in and tell you how I cope.
We have a large wooden chest type thing that doubles as a toybox and a coffee table - we chuck any toys in here at the end of each day. We also have two large (fake) leather boxes, one slightly smaller than the other, these hold nappies, wipes, nappy sacks, travel changing mats, spare clothes etc.
That way, at the end of the day, when you finally get the kids to sleep, the living room can be beautifully tidy in about 10 seconds flat, with virtually no sign that you have babies at all.
We have the leather boxes stacked artfully in a corner, they look as though they're a design feature lol!
My Mum had 3 babies close together, and she says her second and third children (ie, everyone except me!) are really laid back, because they had to quickly learn that they had to wait if she was in the middle of doing something else. So you WILL cope, and both your babies will be absolutely fine.
You can pay a fortune for storage boxes, but you can get the fake leather ones really quite cheaply at Wilkinsons and Tescos.
You can tandem breastfeed too - it looks tricky to me, but I'm sure it's one of those things you would get the hang of pretty quickly if you're doing it several times a day....and it would have the huge advantage that you wouldn't spend most of the day with lopsided boobs, as I seem to be doing at the moment lol!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
