Thanks Snaggles, that looks perfect. Only problem with ikea is it's an hour and a half round trip for me round the hideous M25 carpark, so probably what we could save in cash will go on petrol! I see they offer online shopping now, but only certain postcodes and neither mine or my mum's is included.
:rolleyes:0 -
Oh, that's a shame - I wouldn't want to trail round the M25 either though!
Is there any reason she doesn't like the travel cot? Is it because it's unfamiliar? Would taking the sheets and blankets from her bed at home with you help, or putting something you've worn near her (not so near that she suffocates on it, obviously)?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Well she slept in one while we were on holiday... I say "slept" in the loosest sense of the word though as she did the exact opposite - woke up every night several times and wouldn't settle - it was a nightmare and the most unrelaxing holiday I've ever had - dh and I were exhausted when we got home! It could have been a number of factors, unfamiliar surroundings, being back in a bedroom with us etc, but I do think the cot might be a major factor, it being low to the ground and flimsy spongy mattress. My mum is pretty keen to avoid her being awake all night and I think she'd rather splash out on a permanent cot to keep at her house rather than take another chance on the travel cot (we went on holiday with them, so she heard it for herself!!)0 -
Oh, I don't blame her then lol! Hope you manage to find something suitable."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Thanks guys, I do agree in regards to teaching them not to do stuff and DD is already grasping the whole idea of No (I just use tone of voice, but she realises mummy is not best pleased.) But I'm still gonna do a little bit of childproofing in our living room, just to slow her down a bit! :rotfl:
Those over door things sound great and I'm sure I saw some in Tesco so I'll have a look at those. I've already 'covered' some of our unused sockets with heavy furniture, but I might just get a small pack of the proper covers to do the rest.
As for cheap cots Purplepatch, the best I have seen that you can get quickly is around £60, so not exceptionally cheap - both John Lewis and Mothercare sell them at that price if you're interested, but the JL one looks better made.Roseycosey :hello:0 -

Alice slept through the night last night! :j (Probably a fluke though as she's varied between 2.30 and 6 over the last fortnight.)
On the topic of moneysaving, Mothercare have got a sale on at the moment. Have sent my husband to buy a highchair and to do a tour of shops exchanging all the newborn/0-3 month outfits we were given which are too small for larger sizes. She moved on to 3-6months at 6 weeks and all she wears at the moment is vests, babygrows and cardigains anyway so I figure we might as well have larger sizes which she'll get decent use out of.
EDIT: moozikgal your photos look lovely.0 -
